SOUND OFF
Sound Off: Nima Nourizadeh's Party Movie 'Project X' - Thoughts?
by Alex Billington
March 2, 2012
Now that you've seen it, what did you think? Did you get the invite? Hitting theaters hard this early March weekend is Project X, directed by Nima Nourizadeh, produced by Todd Phillips (Old School, The Hangover, Due Date), written by Michael Bacall (Scott Pilgrim) & Matt Drake, about three high school kids who throw the craziest party of their lives. It's Superbad meets The Hangover, or so they say. How crazy is the party? Is it better than you expected, or worse? Does it get even wilder than you thought it would or not? Once you've seen it, leave a comment with your thoughts on Todd Phillips & Nima Nourizadeh's Project X.
Note: I haven't actually had a chance to see Project X yet, but I'm planning to catch it this weekend. In the meantime, I've heard it's an insanely wild R-rated party movie that goes to some very crazy places, and I'd love to start a discussion on it anyway - good or bad! Fuel your own fire for now - what did you think?
What did you think of Project X? One of the best out-of-hand party movies yet, or teen trash? We will remove any comments that indicate you have not seen the movie, as this area is meant to discuss the film only once you have seen it and can talk about your thoughts. Please keep the comments civilized!

i liked it, was a fun film. crazy, unrealistic, cliche-filled (especially in its first half)...but fun and entertaining.

Loved it. Fun and very crazy. Sort of like a combo of Superbad, The Hangover, and Animal House.

Why would anyone want to watch a hour and a half of self-absorbed facebook addicted douches destroy a neighborhood?
The Slack King on Mar 3, 2012
15
Because humor is subjective, no one two people will enjoy the same type of humor. There almost can't be a critical analysis of the comedic humor because its so polarizing. You may not want to watch a movie about facebook addicted d'bags but another person would love to watch. Intelligent comedies/raunchy comedies/slap-stick/screw-ball/Sick/Dark comedies are nearly impossible to criticize due to humor being subjective.

Yes, it's true....there's no accounting for taste. You either have it or you don't.

Well taste differs from person to person.

And those that claim to have it, invariable don't.

I see where you are coming from Xerxexx because “NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again.”

I'm sorry but this movie is horrifying. It promotes destruction, chaos and not following the rules of society. Worse yet the movie ends with the kids parents in debt and him being criminally charged but the party is seen as a good thing because he became popular. This movie goes beyond bad taste.

"Promotes destruction and chaos" Hahaha, who the crap are you? Tipper Gore in like 1992? If you actually believe this film will incite teen anarchism then you should seek immediate psychiatric help.

Moon didn't say "incite". He said "promote". There's a difference. Maybe you should seek some immediate text-comprehension help.

You should change your name from "Moon" to "Mom". Bad taste? Definitely. Socially disruptive? C'mon.

Terrible movie (and I don't mean Jonathan Daniel Brown's "Nerd Hunting"). I weep for the future if this is the entertainment for the current generation.

This was what I expected, and way more! The most epic of party movies! The cast was super funny and believable, the dialogue was ruthless and raunchy and it was never weighed down by the romantic "B" story

The home owner in me was terrified, but the kid in me couldn't stop smiling. The whole time I was watching it I couldn't have been more happy for those 3 kids and I kept saying to myself, good for them. I had a great time watching it and I really want to go see it again.

In my opinion it tops "The Hangover" (both) and "Superbad". Unlike everybody else I feel that it stays close to reality and I dnt see why this couldn't happen under the right circumstances. INSANELY FUNNY!!! MUST SEE & HAVE!
