SOUND OFF
Sound Off: Olivier Megaton's 'Taken 2' Sequel - What Did You Think?

Now that you've seen it, what did you think? First they took his daughter. Now they're coming for him. Bryan Mills is back! And ready to kick more ass! In theaters is Taken 2 directed by Olivier Megaton, the sequel to 2009's Taken, starring Liam Neeson as the father of a daughter, played again by Maggie Grace, who gets abducted in Europe. This time he takes his family on vacation to Istanbul, but the captors seek revenge and take him and his wife, played by Famke Janssen. So how is it? Better than the first one, or worse? Is Neeson still badass at least? If you've seen it, post a comment with your thoughts on Taken 2.
Note: As of today, I haven't seen Taken 2 as Fox never invited me to any screenings, which kind of sucks. I'll try and see it this weekend as soon as I can. In the meantime, here is a brief snippet from Jeremy's review just published today: "A lame attempt at continuing a franchise that's already scraping the bottom of its well two movies in. It comes and goes without a fleeting hint of sticking around in your brain, but even on surface-level entertainment value, it's grip is shaky at best. At times, though, it works well as a comedy."
What did you think of Olivier Megaton's Taken 2? An awesome sequel or lazy, boring repeat? We will remove any comments that indicate you have not seen the movie, as this area is meant to discuss the film only once you have seen it and can talk about your thoughts. Please keep the comments civilized!

Probably the worst movie of Liam Neeson's acting career. Saw it for $6 AMC deal before 12pm. Was so bad, walked into another movie to get my moneys worth, even at $6. End of Watch blew this outta the water. Which is the movie I hopped into after this. Ill save you guys money this weekend. DO NOT SPEND MONEY to watch this film.

I really enjoyed Taken; mainly beause it was different and even though I expected pertty well the same thing again, I figured what the hell. But this one lost me when I rolled my eyes and couldn't get them back down after his daughter asks him one of the dumbest questions in movie history: "How do you know all this stuff?" If this is supposed to represent the intellect of today's youth then we are all in for a hell of a rough future, I won't ruin it by giving away the scene, but trust me you'll know it when you see it. There has to be a place of honour at the next Razzies for this scene.

I think I know the scene you mean. Yeah, she just wanted to know how he knew what way the flags were blowing.

Guess this explains why Liam completely refuses to be involved in a third

Loved it! Best action movie since I saw "Abduction" last year, although Liam Nelson isn't as good of actor than Taylor Lautner, Go Team Jacob!

"Did you get all 3 of them?"..."No, the girl got away"..."That's okay, I heard she's a really shitty singer anyways, did you tie up the Dad?"..."Yea, I used a twisty tie and put him next to that giant razor blade like you said, have you seen my nose hair trimmers?"..."Yea, they're in my military grade knife kit next to the adrenaline, why?..."Oh, no reason, I just feel like rubbing them all over the woman for awhile, SHIT, the dad escaped!"..."What how? Quick go stand by that one door we forgot to put a lock on!"..."Okay, I'll be sure to smoke and keep my back to it."

I would have liked to see 15-20 minutes more of Liam kicking ass but overall I enjoyed it.

Just saw it. It didn't really capture what made the first movie good at all, but as with the first one, Neeson made it a LOT better than it otherwise would have been.

a fun 82 minutes. made larger leaps in story progression than even the first one made, which was almost unthinkable. neeson kicks ass, but not a quality movie. not worth the 8.50 i spent. Disappointed.

Very dissapointed. Action direction was good but the movie was way more generic than the first one. Liam only reacted to events and it wasn't as captivating, not to mention the 3rd act was super short.

Was very average, about as good as Speed 2: Cruise Control was to speed.
