"It is our job to protect the children of the world, for as long as they believe in us, we will guard them with our lives." While this May will bring together an assembly of superheroes in The Avengers, another group of fantastical warriors who have been around for much longer will assemble to defend children across the world. The teaser trailer for DreamWorks Animation's adaptation of William Joyce's book Rise of the Guardians has just debuted, and it looks pretty damn magical and epic. Childhood legends like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny look to take down an evil spirit threatening children everywhere. Watch below!
The teaser trailer for DreamWorks Animation's adaptation of Rise of the Guardians via Apple:
When an evil spirit called Pitch becomes bent upon taking over the world by inspiring fear in the hearts of kids everywhere, a group of our greatest heroes, Santa (Alec Baldwin), the Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman), the Tooth Fairy (Isla Fisher) and Jack Frost (Chris Pine), band together for the first time, determined to stand in Pitch’s way. Peter Ramsey (head of story on Monsters vs. Aliens) is directing Rise of the Guardians from a script by the book's author William Joyce and screenwriter David Lindsay-Abaire (Inkheart). DreamWorks Animation brings the film to theaters in 3D just before Thanksgiving on November 21st.

Dreamworks... is like the Yankees where higher productions don't guarantee box office success. I'll keep an eye on this, but not sold. I had doubt in Pixar's Brave, but after finally seeing its trailer it has something Dreamworks can't buy, charm.

Pity that most of the characters are not known in a lot parts of the world (like some countries in Europe). Cultural differences!

Is that Jude Law voicing Pitch? Dreamworks has some pretty good animated films...this looks like yet another success.

I prefer this voice cast rag tag of mythical figures as opposed to the Hotel Transylvania one

I'm impressed....Personally, I think the character designs are pretty weak, but the story and everything else looks like it'll make up for that. I'm in.

Interesting premise but do we really have to go all 'Dark Knight' with Santa, The Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy etc? The one thing that gives me hope is that Guillermo del Toro is involved. We'll see...

In Soviet Russia - Santa carries a darned big sword ... apparently ! Nice to hear Hugh Jackman doing Easter Bunny with his actual Australian accent. Looks surreal / funny - although I cant help think they missed Jack Skellington 😉

I concur. The Easter Bunny and Santa Claus look like they are going to be bad ass in this. Can't wait!

Voice cast seems like a win but while Alec's accent was struggling in the narration, it didn't sound half bad in some sequences. Still, pretty neat concept...fingers crossed.

The good part is this movie is from the creators of How To Train Your Dragon. The bad part is the animation.

Did I miss Jack Frost? I saw the Sandman, the easter bunny, tooth fairy, and santa, but no Jack Frost.

Rumour has it, he had a falling out with Santa Claus so they cut him out of the film. Sucks, was looking forward to his first big performance.

he's probably holding out for more money.

Should have cut Santa, Tooth Fairy, and the Bunny. I think the idea of a movie just about the Sandman and dreams would be a great idea. Screw it, just put Neil Gaiman's Sandman on the big screen.

Check out the official website for the character bios, Jack Frost is there. He's a teenage boy with white hair and a magic staff... so I guess that's the closest they're getting to an asian mythic figure. The design of the Tooth Fairy is straight up Papagena from The Magic Flute. I do like Santa's russian hat and coat, though.

This looks sweet. There's something really appealing about the idea of Santa Claus as Russian.
