On this week's episode of The Golden Briefcase, Tim and Jeremy are joined by guest Laremy Legel of Film.com and RopeofSilicon to go through their Picks of the Week, talk through the new trailers for Steven Soderbergh's Magic Mike and John Hillcoat's Lawless and more. The topic of the night was a discussion on the career of Richard Lanklater in honor of his film Bernie hitting theaters this weekend. The guys talk over some of his high and low points in his career and where he stands amongst his peers in the directing world today. They also discuss any other subject matters they would like to see him explore in the future.

I honestly do not think it's such a bad thing for a director not to have a signature style or themes.. I mean if anything many try hard to achieve that, but can't because they leave their undeniable fingerprints all over the picture and he can do that without trying. That's gotta be recognized as amzing, no? Well, I've only seen a couple of his films, so I must admit I'm not the best judge..
