'The Avengers' Back in Theaters for One Week Starting This Weekend
If you're one of the handful of people who didn't see The Avengers in theaters this summer, or maybe you just can't wait for the film to hit Blu-Ray and DVD on September 25th (complete with cool deleted scenes and a hilarious gag reel), then we have some good news. The official Facebook page just revealed that Joss Whedon's epic superhero ensemble starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Clark Gregg, Tom Hiddleston, Gwyneth Paltrow and Cobie Smulders is returning to theaters for a limited run starting this Labor Day weekend on August 31st and playing up until September 6th. Time to assemble… again!
Here's how Marvel's Facebook page announced The Avengers returning to theaters this weekend:
Will we get an Iron Man 3 teaser trailer or something special with this screening to entice fans back into theaters? I guess we'll have to wait and see. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Marvel's The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon (Serenity), first hit theaters May 4th. Go see it again!
This is going to get the Batman fanboys riled up!! You know, the ones that cling to the idea that the amount of money a film make correlates to the quality of the film (or maybe they don't since they're losing this pointless battle). One would have hoped that the story about the original Burton Batman selling more tickets would have put that ignorant argument to a rest, but . . . . . . . now it's going to be, "The Avengers had 3D sales AND an extra week in the theater!!" UGGGGHHHHH .................

i like superhero films but i'm not a rabid fanboy. that being said: i didn't care for the last batman - however, if you're suggesting avengers was a "high quality" film - i disagree. superhero films will sell because of the kids and fanboys that will go no matter what.....and that does NOT necessarily make them "high quality".... i thought avengers was an average watch at best as far as movie qualtiy goes.

Way to go off topic in your sad attempt to start a flame war ya troll.

I wonder how many theaters they are expanding it into. According to boxoffcemoj, it was still in 123 theaters this past weekend.

I think it's expanding to about 1500 last i checked...

Sounds good, most are saying 1700...so yeah, about 1500+ MORE than it was in last weekend. Sounds good to me. I remember when they put Avatar back in theaters...but it was barely in 800 theaters. You almost wonder the point of such a small re-release that they spent time putting together and promoting. Why limit it?

If anyone finds out there will be a IR3 teaser, please post it and let us know!! I'm most likely gonna see it for the eighth time when it comes out XD!!
