'The Canyons' with Lindsay Lohan Gets a Bizarre Grindhouse Teaser
After American Psycho writer Bret Easton Ellis and Taxi Driver writer Paul Schrader Kickstarted the budget for their indie The Canyons, a grungy noir starring porn star James Deen and tabloid regular Lindsay Lohan, and the film got a melodic L.A.-centric teaser trailer, we really weren't sure what to expect. But this new grindhouse-style trailer (via The Playlist) is surprising. Is this what the final film will actually look like on the big screen, or did Schrader and Ellis just have some fun in the edit bay and give us something super stylized here? Either way, this film will certainly be something to behold. Watch it below!
Here's the first teaser trailer for Paul Schrader's The Canyons via The Playlist:
The Canyons follows a small group of twenty-somethings as they explore the seedy underbelly of Hollywood while trying to make it in the biz. It's being billed as an L.A. noir that has both crime and redemption elements, but most of the plot details are still being kept under wraps. So far the movie features adult film star James Deen and Lindsay Lohan, with the filmmakers planning a Netflix & VOD style release, so we might not hear much more about the project. Taxi Driver writer Paul Schrader is directing the film from a script by Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho), and we'll keep you posted with release date information.

Fun Trailer. Nothing in the footage actually looked interesting though.

I'd say the whole point of the unusual trailer style was to trick the viewer into thinking they saw something interesting

Its as if they were trying to make the movie look worse, and yes I know its a grindhouse style trailer.

Feel like there should've been a voice over.

It's Bret Easton Ellis, therefore, I will watch it.

I just wonder what sort of budgets these guys get to do these things? We used to use that font on club flyers 15 years ago, it's badly made and it shows in the spacing. If this was a Grindhouse trailer that wouldn't happen because the type designer would know what they were doing. I know everyone's having 'new age fun with a vintage feel' these days, but whyyyy. At least Lindsay Lilo is still alive at least.
