Sundance London

Last year it was announced that the Sundance Film Festival would take the hustle and bustle of their annual Park City, Utah invasion all the way overseas to London for a four-day multi-disciplinary arts festival that will include film screenings, music, discussions, panels and more. Taking place at The O2 arena, the festival starts in 2012 running from April 26th to 29th and now the Sundance Institute has unveiled the list of 14 films that will head across the pond for Sundance London, and it includes a great selection of films like Safety Not Guaranteed, 2 Days in New York, Liberal Arts and more. See the list below!

Shut Up and Play the Hits (Directors: Dylan Southern, Will Lovelace) — A documentary that follows LCD Soundsystem front man James Murphy over a crucial 48-hour period, from the day of their final gig at Madison Square Garden to the morning after, the official end of one of the best live bands in the world.

Under African Skies / U.S.A. (Director: Joe Berlinger) — Paul Simon returns to South Africa to explore the incredible journey of his historic Graceland album, including the political backlash he sparked for allegedly breaking the UN cultural boycott of South Africa, designed to end Apartheid.

On the Sundance London Festival, director John Cooper says: "We're a mission-driven organization, so we are always looking to extend the audience for American independent films. London is the perfect venue. We have a long history with UK films, and probably show more British titles than any other films from outside the US. So there's a natural affinity. But I'm also interested to explore the differences between UK and US independent cinema. " We hope our friends across the pond enjoy the Sundance Film Festival, even in its scaled back version, as much as we do every year. Any United Kingdom readers checking it out?

Hahaha, I would love to, but plane tickets aren't exactly free! Alex always makes it overseas for Cannes though (and the occasional set visit), but we rarely get closer than that. Thanks for reading across the pond though! We really appreciate it!
