Source: Yahoo
After this year, The Twilight Saga comes to an end (finally), but that doesn't mean we're done seeing the work of author Stephenie Meyer tossed up onto the big screen. In addition to the trailer for Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 hitting theaters with The Hunger Games at midnight tonight, now the trailer for the adaptation of The Host has turned up online. The story follows Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan) as one of the last humans fighting back against the invasion of aliens called The Souls who fuse to each person's consciousness and systematically erase their personality and memory, but Stryder won't give up.
Here's the first official trailer for Andrew Niccol's adaptation of The Host, in HD via Yahoo:
Andrew Niccol (In Time, Gattaca, Lord of War) wrote & directed the adaptation of The Host, based on the sci-fi novel of the same name by Twilight author Stephanie Meyer. Saoirse Ronan stars as Melanie Stryder, one of the last people fighting against an invading parasitic alien methodically taking over humans. This also stars Diane Kruger, William Hurt, Jake Abel, Max Irons and hits theaters on March 29th, 2013.

Apparently, you have an intense dislike of positive emotion and/or optimism. I suppose you'd prefer to see the planet nuked instead? Independence Day 2, starring Will Farrell?

I keep confusing this with the Korean movie of the same title, which I think they're remaking as well. -.- This might be interesting though. There's always hope.

Easy to do, Batou...and I loved the Korean film. As for this...my niece is currently reading the book, and she does like it a lot. According to her, it isn't TWILIGHT, but a book that's more or less aimed at an older audience. Interesting that Andrew Niccol is doing this, since I liked GATTACA. Who knows--this might be a good film adaptation. We'll see.

keep in mind a lot of people that liked the Twilight books do not like how the movies have adapted

Agreed. Although I confess that 1) I've never read the TWILIGHT books and 2) I didn't like the first film. Then again, the TWILIGHT series isn't aimed at people like me, but at a different audience. S'all right though...

It doesn't. (Now, that's coming from my niece, who's currently reading the book. I haven't touched it yet!)

The music in the trailer is a nice rip off of the Tron Legacy score

They could have done a better job with this teaser. Just a bunch of people with glowing eyes and some cliche v.o.

Or maybe even like Heinlein's THE PUPPET MASTERS (minus the slugs)? I might pass on this, but I'm sure my niece will be over the moon about the upcoming film. She's really enjoying the book.

Awful trailer. But the book was pretty freaking great. Yeah, I said it.

Doesn't the music in the background that starts at the 50 second mark sound like the one used in the tron trailer? Do studios reuse tracks for multiple movies?
Jeff on Mar 22, 2012
25
Yes, in trailers, Hollywood has slapped on other movies' music for 8 decades.

red flags that movie is gonna suck...a) time travel, b) vampires/zombies C The monster/aliens are INVISIBLE...no new ground broken here...
francisofranco on Mar 23, 2012

there is no fucking time travel, there are no fucking vampires/zombies, and they are not invisible. they are physical aliens that possess human beings. please shut your trap. you look like an idiot.

Anything even remotly connected to the twilight franchise is a instant turnoff. Not only becouse of the shitty movies they where but also for the ratarded message they try to pass down.

I read a little bit of the book and it was hilariously awful, like so bad that I wanted to buy it. If the movie's like that I'll see it twice because it'll be funnier than the Hangover. Also, what are you DOING Saorse Ronan? I respected you.

Incredibly excited for this. As a Twilight-hater, I was very hesitant when several family members told me to read this, but I could not be more grateful. I loved the book and hope the slightly more mature writing will lead to a more worthwhile film(s).

I feel like they took a bunch of driver license photos and photo-manipulated the eyes. I saw this trailer in theater for hunger games and it was so bad I held in my laughter. Doesn't even make me want to read the book. I honestly get confused with the Korean movie-which I loved.
