V/H/S/

Sure we featured our favorite movie-theme Halloween costumes from this year, and there's a Halloween inspired teaser trailer for Despicable Me 2 that popped up today, but now it's time for some really holiday horror news. THR has word that a sequel to the Sundance selected found footage horror anthology V/H/S is being planned with the original found footage hype machine director Eduardo Sanchez (Blair Witch Project) and The Raid: Redemption helmer Gareth Evans already attached to direct segments. Also, Hobo with a Shotgun director Jason Eisener will have a segment in the film, but there's even more. Read on!

Sanchez's producing partner Gregg Hale will co-direct his segment and You're Next director Adam Wingard and his writer Simon Barrett (who also scripted two segments from the original Sundance horror sensation) all have their own parts to direct. Meanwhile, Macabre director Timo Tjahjanto will co-direct his segment with Evans. The first film followed a group of kids hired to break into a rundown house and recover a lost V/H/S tape, stumbling upon these short horrific stories at the same time. The new story will have a similar formula but has two investigators discovering a tape while looking for a student. It sounds like this is coming together pretty quickly, and I'm betting it may arrive in time for Halloween 2013.

Did the first one ever even get released in theaters? I don't remember seeing it at any theaters near me... SPOILER: I enjoyed it though and am looking forward to a sequel where we might actually find out what tape they were looking for.

It's been on VOD for awhile, but it got a limited theatrical release earlier this month.

I can't tell if the movie was over-hyped or if I was just over-excited - but man what a letdown...
