Tim Roth and Cillian Murphy in a New Trailer for Indie Drama 'Broken'
Back in August, we got a taste of a new indie that premiere at Cannes when the trailer for Broken showed up. At the time, the film only had an official release in France, but now it has a release window in the United Kingdom soon. Thankfully that news comes with an all-new knew trailer that shows off some promising performances from Tim Roth and Cillian Murphy. However, the real spotlight should be on newcomer Eloise Laurence who looks to give quite a powerful performance judging by this trailer. Hopefully this film makes it sway to the United States sometime next year, but for now, enjoy the new trailer. Watch now!
Here's the newest trailer for Rufus Norris' Broken, originally from Empire:
The story, based on English author Daniel Clay's novel (which was inspired by Harper Lee's classic "To Kill a Mockingbird"), revolves around a young girl in North London whose life changes after witnessing a violent attack between neighbors. Broken is the directorial debut of British filmmaker Rufus Norris, previously an artistic director and theater director. The screenplay, based on Clay's novel, was written by Mark O'Rowe, of Intermission, Boy A and Perrier's Bounty previously. The film first premiered in the Cannes Critics Week earlier this summer, and will hit UK theaters next spring, but doesn't have a US release date yet. Thoughts?
This looks great.

I really hope that this film gets a North American release. The story and acting seem like they're both going to be interesting to watch. Please keep any further updates posted, and thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I'm bothered by the fact that people keep comparing this to "To Kill a Mockingbird." "Mockingbird" was about standing up for what you believe is right, no matter the cost; this, in sad contrast, looks like a bunch of people standing around doing nothing... until it's far too late.

It's probably because both stories have a young female protagonist who must deal with the insecurities of a society dominated by white males.
