'Titanic' 3D Re-Release Getting a Special Fan Sneak Preview Event

February 27, 2012

It's almost time for the 100th anniversary of the tragic sinking of the Titanic, and to pay tribute to those lives lost and the hundreds of stories that ended in the cold waters so many years ago, James Cameron is bringing back his Best Picture winning film Titanic to the big screen in 3D. Valentine's Day brought a special sneak preview event to lovebirds looking to go back to the R.M.S. Titanic, but now even more fans in Canada and the United States will get a chance to catch an early screening of the theatrical re-release, and there's even some special goodies in store if you can get a ticket, or win one in a very lucky hand of poker.

Fans in Canada can catch a screening on Monday, April 2nd while audiences in the United States can catch the film on Tuesday, April 3rd before the film hits theaters on April 4th, just eleven days before the real anniversary of the April 15th, 1912 sinking. Those in attendance will not only get to see the film in 3D, but they will also receive a collector's edition pair of Titanic RealD 3D glasses and a limited edition lithograph from the film. It's no Heart of the Ocean, but for those who really love the film, it should be cool. You can get tickets at participating theaters or online. Check for more.

Give me the 30 seconds were I get to see Kate Winslet naked in 3D, the rest of the film is a yawn.

Can't wait to see this movie again on the big screen.  Titanic is a superb film, expertly crafted and wonderfully acted.  It is a true landmark in cinema, and deserves a trip back to the theater every so often. I also can't wait to see just what a 2D film converted to 3D _should_ look like, according to James Cameron.

wasn't James Cameron knocking on all those trying to post convert their movies into 3D? And now this?

You should have done some homework on Cameron's Titanic 3d conversion, Syntaxterror, before making your comment. Cameron spent a year, give or take, and millions, going over Titanic frame by frame to get the 3d conversion right. His negative comments about 3d, after the fact conversions, were in reference to film makers over the last few years who did cheap, hasty, poor 3d conversions of their new 2d movies, in a last minute attempt to cash in an the current trend.
