Universal Moving Quickly on 'Snow White and the Huntsman' Sequel

The film doesn't hit theaters until the beginning of June (watch the most recent trailer right here), but as with all blockbusters with franchise potential, when the buzz is good and the excitement high, there's always plans for a sequel. That seems to be the cast over at Universal as Deadline reports the studio is already making moves to get a sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman off the ground with David Koepp (Mission: Impossible, Jurassic Park) being hired to write the script. In addition, the studio hopes to get the sequel off the ground quickly so they can get Rupert Sanders in the director's chair again right away.
It certainly seems that the lackluster Mirror, Mirror (though the film wasn't nearly as bad as the first trailer), hasn't done anything to slow down the momentum of Snow White and the Huntsman, but ever since the trailers hit, Sanders' film always seemed like the stronger contender anyway. But the question remains as to where a sequel would go after this new take on the classic tale rolls credits in theaters in just over a month. Presumably Chris Hemsworth and Kristen Stewart would come back, but there's no telling whether Charlize Theron as evil Queen Ravenna will survive or if we'll have a new villain for the sequel.

Can't blame them...the trailers have been fantastic...but why make a sequel to something that doesn't need one? Take Pirates of the Caribbean for example, great first movie sub-par follow ups.

Monkey see, monkey do.Hollywood and general pop culture has a habit of falling into trends just because. In this case ,a fantasy story has to be a trilogy.LOTR confirmed it is a good investment.Sadly it is all about the obvious reasons .It's a business,an industry.Sometimes we get great art from it but most of the time it is about the bottom line.

I can see another Pirates clusterbust...the sequels made the main characters (Will and Elizabeth) extremely unlikable...whilst bringing a side character to the forefront...sure the sequels made a ton of loot...but the quality of those films dipped tremendously. If however I'm wrong then I'll get a fork and eat my words.

The should've just made spinoffs with Sparrow and left Will and Elizabeth alone. Although the best part of the sequels was Will's/Boostrap's story.
