December 12, 2012
It's almost the end of the year, which means that in addition to looking back at the films of 2012, we're starting to look forward to the films of 2013. Now normally the time between January and the end of April is pretty stagnant as all of the films that aren't good enough for summer or awards season are dumped into theaters. There are a couple good films each month, but for the most part it's pretty dry. But maybe some action with the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger is his first lead role in The Last Stand will spice things up a bit. After all, it's a film from I Saw the Devil director Kim Jee-woon, so it should be interesting. Now we have a new one-minute trailer for the film with plenty of action. Hope it's a blast to kick off 2013.
Here's the new one-minute trailer for for Kim Jee-woon's The Last Stand, directly from Lionsgate:
The Last Stand marks the English-language debut of director Kim Jee-woon (I Saw the Devil, The Good, the Bad, the Weird) working from a script by Andrew Knauer, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and George Nolfi (The Adjustment Bureau). The film follows Arnold Schwarzenegger as a former LAPD cop turned sheriff of a small border town which serves as the last thing standing between the world's most notorious drug kingpin and freedom in Mexico after he escapes from an FBI prisoner convoy. Forest Whitaker, Zach Gilford, Harry Dean Stanton and Luis Guzmán and more also star in Last Stand, hitting theaters on January 18th, 2013.

Why is the delivery of Arnie's painfully cheesy one-liners in this movie much less painfully cheesy than with the ones he spouts in Expendables 2?

Based on the previous trailer I thought Ahnold was going to be fully bad-ass in this flick. But now I have seen this trailer, I fear this feels like action-comedy. IMHO, that genre never was Ahnolds best choice. I just want to see him kill things that can bleed and then gettothechoppa without trying to be funny.
