Moonrise Kingdom

This weekend, Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom, the director's return to live-action films after adapting The Fantastic Mr. Fox, hits limited theaters. Alex already gave a mostly positive review of the film from Cannes (follow all his coverage right here), and now we have a hilarious piece of promotional video for the film. Frequent Anderson collaborator Bill Murray gives viewers an inebriated tour through the set and story of Moonrise Kingdom with the kind of commentary that only the star of Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day and What About Bob? can deliver. It's a funny way to promote the film, so be sure to watch it below!

Here's the funny set and story featurette for Moonrise Kingdom via Deadline:

Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom, his seventh feature film, was filmed on an island in New England. It recounts a tormented and surprising story of children and adults during the stormy days of the summer of 1965 (watch the trailer here). The cast includes: Edward Norton, Bruce Willis, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand and Jason Schwartzman as well as Kara Hayward and Jared Gilman playing the two young lovers. Focus Features will be releasing the film in US theaters starting May 25th, just after it debuts at the Cannes Film Festival this summer. Stay tuned for more updates! Visit the film's official website here.

Very excited for this, especially since it was filmed in (and prominently features) my hometown of Newport, R.I.. Also, on that note (and not to criticize this blog, in particular, at all) it's funny to me that the R.I. Film Council gives films like this one huge tax breaks hoping to reap some promotional benefit for tourism, film, etc, while many press releases (and therefore websites) still say "an island in New England".  I guess it's true that Newport is on an island (Aquidneck Island) but there are two other cities/towns on the island, and many other islands that are a part of R.I.. Anyway, now I'm blabbering.  Good stuff.
