Watch: Bloody New Red Band Trailer for 'Maniac' Starring Elijah Wood

The first uncensored trailer for the remake of the 1980 horror film Maniac was pretty brutal, but now another international red band trailer has surfaced for the film starring Elijah Wood. This one is a bit shorter and changes up the footage a bit, but it's still NSFW since it has nudity and a lot of blood. In addition, there's a painful new shot of a quick knife slice in a very sensitive area that will make you cringe. The film follows a serial killer (Wood) with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt for more. Wood has done a great job of creating a new film image for himself after Lord of the Rings, and that continues here.

Plot synopsis: Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank's obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill. Filmmaker Franck Khalfoun (P2, Wrong Turn at Tahoe) directs from a script by Alexandre Aja (Piranha 3D) with Nora Arnezeder playing Anna. No U.S. release date, but Maniac hits French theaters in December.
