Evil Dead Remake Trailer

"You're all going to die tonight." Screen Gems has finally unveiled the first gory, crazy red band trailer for Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead remake, produced by Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell. This is one of those long-awaited, but entirely dreaded moments, where we kind of want to see what it is and how it looks, but expect it to be pretty bad (or at least incomparable to Raimi's original). Take a look and see for yourself. The brand new 2013 Evil Dead stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, Lou Taylor Pucci and Elizabeth Blackmore as the new victims of the infamous Necronomicon. Watch the wild trailer below!

Watch the first red band trailer for Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead remake, originally from Sony Pictures:

Evil Dead (2013) is a Raimi-approved-and-produced remake of Sam Raimi's original 1981 low budget horror classic, The Evil Dead. Directing is Fede Alvarez, a Uruguayan filmmaker who broke into Hollywood with his short film Panic Attack, making his feature debut with this. He helped write the script after he came on-board, with Oscar winner Diablo Cody credited on the original draft. The new cast includes Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, Lou Taylor Pucci and Elizabeth Blackmore. Sony/Screen Gems will be releasing this new Evil Dead in theaters on April 12th next spring. This looks crazy! Your thoughts?

Kinda pointless remake but nevertheless, it still looks decent! btw - "connect with" doesnt work with Chrome. FYI

3

I'm not gonna lie. It's lookin pretty intense. And yes I'm a HUGE fan of the original. Totally giving this a chance!

Danimal on Oct 24, 2012

4

agreed - it looks like they threw out the campy feel of the original and upped the horror aspect - i'm in.

beevis on Oct 24, 2012

5

yep, this does look good and intense, worthy of a chance, even from doubters (like me). if there was no original, i'd have no qualms. as there is, they could have tried a few new things, rather than using the same pursuing camera style and some scenes straight out of the original. but this *is* only the trailer, so the full monty may bring more rewards. even though you'll likely never convince me a remake was ever necessary, colour me optimistic.

son_et_lumiere on Oct 24, 2012

6

i agree on the remake not being necessary - it's the same for any remake. but, with that being said - i am encouraged by the trailer - i was thinking it's be a total disaster; but, this is looking much better than i thought it would.

beevis on Oct 24, 2012

7

If only I didn't have to wait until next year. Oh wait, I don't. Another pointless remake.

Think I just saw the whole film right there!

Paul Hepburn on Oct 24, 2012

9

Well if you have any idea of what the film is from seeing the original then it's easy to put together the pieces.

Kento on Oct 24, 2012

10

Looks fantastic, but it needs a Bruce Campbell cameo.

Craig on Oct 24, 2012

11

That would be amazing if he shows up in the movie.

Marc Callado on Oct 24, 2012

12

being Producer maybe he will go a more serious cameo and be the professor who finds the book?

Am I watching a trailer for "Evil Dead" or "Cabin in the Woods". The first 30 secs is almost identical to Cabin in the woods.

IamSlave on Oct 24, 2012

15

Cabin in the Woods was an homage to many great horror films. In fact, Cabin borrowed the "words that shouldn't be spoken" from the original Evil Dead. Remember, this is a remake, not an original.

Brad on Oct 24, 2012

16

Yes I know... I was only joking my friend. 🙂

Now that's a trailer. the last 30 seconds are crazy good. I can't wait.

Even though Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 are my all time favorite horror movies, I'm actually super pumped for this remake

Daniel_Plainview_Milkshake on Oct 24, 2012

30

That put me on edge... it's been a long time since a trailer, even for a horror movie was able to do that. Wow. Good job!

Kento on Oct 24, 2012

31

I'm a fan of Evil Dead but this looks like another regular virus outbreak bloody zombie movie "Walking Dead with extra blood perhaps". Demons here looks a little tamed than the original.

stevenfreestyler on Oct 24, 2012

32

This looked more serious and scary than campy and silly, which is how I remember the original.

Brian Sleider on Oct 24, 2012

Wow, that was messed up

Richie G on Oct 24, 2012

F*****k, why did I watch that full screen ... lol

Nick Sears on Oct 24, 2012

35

Rubbish.

ChrisIlls on Oct 24, 2012

36

People seem to forget that this is a remake of the original, which was in fact quite a serious, if low-budget, horror movie, and not nearly as camp as the second one and AoD, for which most people remember the franchise. And oh, oh, the updated raping tree. That's sure going to spark some controversy.

max on Oct 24, 2012

37

good point. Evil Dead '81 is like Texas Chain Saw '74 in that respect - still trying to scare - and succeeding - despite the budgetary restrictions. Evil Dead II is where we head towards black comedy.

Evil Dead has always been cool... what the hell r u talking about????

Sky on Oct 29, 2012

41

i thought the original was great, campy fun - i don't know how anyone could classify the original as "serious horror". army of darkness was just a lot of suck. edit - apparently there are 5 people who have no clue what "real horror" is.

beevis on Oct 24, 2012

42

fair play to you, just had a different effect on me at the first time of viewing! and i suppose Bruce Campbell himself is quite a good definition of 'great campy fun'!

son_et_lumiere on Oct 24, 2012

43

i guess it's me, man. i would call exorcist movie "serious horror" - not evil dead. my friends and i saw ED at a drive-in in '81 and we were having a good time with it. we thought it was black humor at it's finest. hey, everybody is entitled to their opinion and i'm not saying anyone is wrong - i just never saw ED as anything BUT campy fun.

beevis on Oct 24, 2012

44

My take on it is, that the original Evil Dead turned out unintentionally "funny" and Raimi just went for that for the second one, which worked. But yeah, Army of Darkness was really bad.

D6 on Oct 25, 2012

45

Looks more gross than scary

TOONFED on Oct 24, 2012

46

Knowing me, I'll watch it when it comes out, and knowing that it is a remake, I'll probably complain about it afterward. Hopefully, it isn't the case for this one. This trailer makes it look good!

Why a spring release? Time to take over Paranormal activity's dominance in October

Marc Callado on Oct 24, 2012

56

The original one is actually pretty scary... granted it wont scare anyone now but if you think about it back then it was a pretty scary film I think what made the franchise popular was obviously Ash... its seems like his "character" wont be in it (i.e. there might be someone playing Ash but they most likely wont "act" the same) this movie looks pretty fucking... I'm definitely gonna watch it

Said Samayoa on Oct 24, 2012

57

so that no one will do any poor comparisons, they wont be having any of the original character names in it....

Jericho on Oct 25, 2012

58

Yeaaah, looks like more gore porn to me, probably a netflix for me.

Cody W on Oct 24, 2012

59

It looks like it going to be loads better that the first one, and I know it's not even going to attempt to compare itself to 2 and 3. It's going to be it's own movie with new characters while still maintaining good parallels to the original and maybe have some good elements from for the 2nd. It looks super intense and I'm very much looking forward to it

Armeetapus16 on Oct 24, 2012

60

Ok, that just looks creepy and twisted. I've only glimpsed the original Evil Dead and it never caught my interest because of how campy it was and never really understood the story other than a guy running around with a chainsaw killing dead people so I have no say on the classic but this movie looks absolutely creepy the way Silent Hill should of been. I just hope that wasn't the best scenes they just spilled out, lol.

BinaryChaos on Oct 24, 2012

61

I recommend you see the 2nd one, it's not just about a guy going nuts with a chainsaw killing dead things, thats the 3rd one. The 2nd is more about a guy trapped in an awful situation and is just trying to live through the night in one piece, and then at the very end he goes nuts with the chainsaw 😛

Armeetapus16 on Oct 25, 2012

62

Good old fashion nightmare fuel that is.

mooreworthy on Oct 24, 2012

63

Sigh. Why can't somebody make a really scary movie? I think by now we are all pretty much desensitized and don't find gory stuff and the usuall jump scare gimmicks really scary. Is it that hard to expand beyond the stereotypes and reinvent the genre?

Pretendfanboy on Oct 24, 2012

64

Oh Frelling yeah I knew this would rock! Cant frelling wait.

Jimmy Love on Oct 24, 2012

65

Well, ok, I guess now I'm interested. Was totally against it, hate this era of remakes we're in.They're pointless, but every now and then one of them eeks its way out of the cesspool to offer something worthwhile. I'm hoping this will be one of the few.

grimjob on Oct 24, 2012

66

What I love about this trailer, and the vibe it gives, is that I feel like I'm watching something I shouldn't be. I got that same feeling when I watched the original when I was 13 and haven't had it until now! 😀

Carlo on Oct 24, 2012

67

It looks ok. I just hope they don't try to simply rely on all gore to make this movie more intense. The charm of evil dead wasn't "gore" but rather the creepy and scary suspense and outrageous demon/spirit appearances etc. Gore alone does not make for a good Horror movie.

TREE RAPE!!!! lol. Every time I see it I can't stop laughing lol

Nicholas Robinson on Oct 26, 2012

71

i think they should say its loosely based off the original rather than a remake because with that trailer alone, its not the same movie. The original was a classic. Leave it be. And the people putting down e.d.2 and army of darkness are insane. both were INCREDIBLE films filled with true horror, great storytelling as well as a fair amount of humor to keep it balanced. some people just cant appreciate the classics.

acrossalloceans on Nov 22, 2012

72

why, why WHY can't Hollywood STOP with the remakes?!?! WHY can't they give some ORIGINAL scripts a shot? My friends down there are struggling to be heard with their cool ORIGINAL ideas for Horror flicks but Hollywood JUST KEEPS DOING THIS SHIT!!! WHY Hollywood, WHY?

Horror Industry Alum on Dec 2, 2012

The trailer looks pretty good actually!
