Lay the Favorite

Earlier this year, Stephen Frears, director of High Fidelity and The Queen took his new film, an adaptation of Lay the Favorite to Sundance, but the reviews were less than stellar, and almost every writer I talked to about the film had nothing good to say about it. Of course, the film is still on its way to theaters (hitting the United Kingdom first this summer), and now the first trailer from across the pond is here for the dramedy centered on a thirty-something woman (Rebecca Hall) who gets involved with a group of geeky older men (including Bruce Willis) who know how to work the bookie system in Las Vegas.

Here's the first UK trailer for Stephen Frears adaptation of Lay the Favorite from HeyUGuys:

Beth Raymer (Rebecca Hall) is a beautiful girl with a big heart who leaves a Florida strip club to become a Las Vegas cocktail waitress. In walks Dink, a professional sports better who offers her a job placing wagers all over town to gain an advantage over the casinos. But then his gorgeous-but-frigid wife, Tulip (Catherine Zeta-Jones), gets jealous. Faced with no other choice but to fire Beth, Dink’s luck runs out when she heads to New York to work for a smarmy bookie, but ends up wrong side of the law. Stephen Frears directs Lay the Favorite written by D.V. DeVincentis, which hits UK theaters on June 22nd, with no US release set yet.

What would be weirder, poo coming out of your pee hole or pee coming out of your poo hole? This boring trailer, which strikes me as (akin to the likes of another 10 yards) another silly choice in the once great filmography of 'one sir Bruce Willis provokes me to ask such questions ass the one seen above.

Just no. Bruce needs to just do a Moonlighting return to TV Movie on Lifetime and open up an acting school and call it good.
