Les Misérables Extended First Look

"I dreamed a dream…" In what might be a deflection of the release date delay, Universal has premiered a fantastic extended first look featurette, running nearly 5-minutes, giving us a good behind-the-scenes look at the making of and impressive live singing in Les Miserables, directed by Tom Hooper. We all know Hugh Jackman stars in this musical as Jean Valjean, and he's featured prominently in this, along with Anne Hathaway as Fantine and Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, plus Eddie Redmayne as Marius. I love the huge, detailed sets Hooper made for this, and I love the epic, sweeping feel it has, everything about it seems tremendous and exciting. I'm very much looking forward to seeing this Christmas Day. Take a look!

You can still watch the first teaser trailer for Tom Hooper's Les Mis here, while we wait for another trailer.

Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) is directing Les Miserables, an adaptation of the successful stage musical based on Victor Hugo's classic novel set in 19th-century France, in which a paroled prisoner named Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman) seeks his redemption. Alain Boublil adapted his own work with Claude-Michel Schonberg, who also wrote the stage musical, Herbert Kretzmer and William Nicholson. The film also stars Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen and Eddie Redmayne and will hit theaters everywhere on December 25th, Christmas Day, this winter. Excited yet?

I dislike musicals in general, as they are not my cup of tea, but I can respectfully say this will be at the very least a spectacle to behold.

What if somebody made a porn musical?

I really want to see Hooper take on something that's not a period piece. I love what he does, but I want to see him step out of his comfort zone and tackle another genre. A sci fi epic or a heist film would be pretty awesome.

This looks absolutely spectacular.

This just moved up to my most anticipated movie of the year. (Sorry Hobbit) I've ALWAYS wanted a movie musical with live takes, and this is the perfect one to try it on. Merry Christmas to me!
