Hulk comments are hilarious though! Loki: we have an army. Stark: we have a hulk.

Finally! A movie that is going to let the Hulk tear loose and show what a juggernaut of pure destruction he can be! There is a reason why when he's done right it takes most of the Marvel heroes to take him down!

I'm kinda on board with you Jericho...kinda. Don't get me wrong, Avengers is the number one movie I look forward to most of 2012 (yes over TDKR) but I kept play/pause-ing cap's scene in the circle. It does look straight out of the comics his costume (like super exact) but there's something fishy about it. I still like his suit better in his first movie back in the summer of 2011.
JBrotsis on Feb 6, 2012
22
now THAT i liked, it was his costume but looked a little more like he can be taken seriously...as far as a man with american propaganda on his body can do...
Jericho on Feb 6, 2012
23
I agree about Cap. His costume looks worse than the 1990 movie version. They should have done a "batman" treatment to it. In his movie, the suit was state of the art body armor in the 1940's (so it was leather). To follow that concept it should look like state of the art body armor from Stark Industries, instead it looks like polyester pj's. I have had bad feelings about this movie from all of the poor marketing up to this point, but this trailer started washing that concern away.

I thought that trailer was more exciting than the dark knight rises but don't be fooled folks it's not the action that's important it's the quality of the story that follow through with great action scenes. Let's not forget our lesson with Spiderman 3 and X-men Last Stand.
Anonymous on Feb 5, 2012
26
X Men Last Stand was a solid movie. I felt it was better than the trilogy and definitely worth making a sequel. But I can absolutely agree with you on SM3. If only...if only...they had done a way better job on Venom (better effects, better characteristics, and above all better actor portrayal)..he was the main dude in the movie
JBrotsis on Feb 6, 2012
27
but those weren't directed and written by josh whedon and his brother. go look up Dr. Horribles singalong blog. or look out for his other up coming movie The cabin in the woods. he is an amazing writer so this is bound to have a very down to this " universe" type of feel. IN WHEDON I TRUST.

Jericho on Feb 5, 2012
38
Wow I can't believe there's even an argument or even a close comparison. Batman would loose to any of the main superheroes (excluding black widow and hawkeye). All of them have super fucking powers, Thor is a god so technically he's immortal (as they called humans in "Thor" mortals), Hulk is impenetrable to bullets, blades, and artillery weaponry and his skin heals itself if pierced (same goes with Capt. America), and Stark can fly at sonic speeds (not "glide" like Batman did in the TDK from the top of the building into the lower levels to grab the asian dude) plus he has energy he fires from his hands and chest most likely capable of burning or melting a human due to its extreme heat. Batman has no powers, he's only a man with armor, some gadgets, and when he's on the ground unable to fly all he has is his combat skills...which Thor or Iron Man can use their abilities (lightning from the hammer or energy from the suit) to blast Batman all the way to planet Krypton from a safe distance away! Looking at these obvious facts from the movies and comics, there's no question Batman would loose. Plus we all know Batman looses the fight against Bane...and all Bane is is a buff, strong "mortal man". Which Hulk could rip apart. Batman can suck it!
JBrotsis on Feb 6, 2012
39
But you forget Bats comes back and rips Bane apart! Bats is a human dedicated to winning. Throw Thor at him and he'll find a way to break the hammer! Throw Hulk at him and he'll make him squeal. Throw Captain America at him and he'll dent his shield. The Iron Man suit would crumble. Hawk Eye's bow would be de-stringed. Black Widow would be helpless, Firearms don't work against the Bat. As you know Batman has no limitations. Bats even takes down Superman. Bats wins all the time.

Guys let's be rational for a second. Yes this trailer was pretty awesome, but saying it will take down the next Nolan Batman film is ridiculous. The only thing the Avengers has a chance of beating the Dark Knight Rises in is toy sales.

That just looks fun...Plain and simple. I'm sure TDKR will be the same psychological thought provoker as most of Nolan's films, but this---This just looks f'in fun with a capital F. I'm ready for Summer movies.

I liked the trailer. It didn't send me into fangirl hysterics and scream myself into a blackout, but it was pretty cool. Still, I just can't really get excited for the movie. I don't know, I just feel like something's missing. Well, and I still have that "omg, too many characters in one movie!" disaster that was Spider-Man 3 in my head. I am gonna see it regardless, obviously, and it might surprise me or even blow me away, but at this point I really just wanna watch it for Hawkeye, Hulk and Loki.
Anonymous on Feb 5, 2012
55
I'm with you, but I did get kind of excited. But I am watching this for Hawkeye. I hope he's not just a small tiny role. I wonder how they're gonna explain any kind of story of his in this.

This trailer looked awesome....but I'd put my money on this movie being a very fun disappointment. There's nothing about this trailer or any of the others we've seen that says it's going to offer any depth, or anything unique to the super hero genre. It's going to be X-men with different super hero's. When they first announced that they were making this film I had a feeling that by the time it was finally released as a whole the super hero genre would be nearing or at the burnout stage for audiences. I believe that is already happening. While superhero films are still making money they're not generating the buzz they used to, which may not seem apparent at first glance. X-men 3 made nearly $100 million more than X-Men first class and X-men First Class was a much better film. Iron man made $318 mil domestically, Spiderman $403 mil, Superman Returns $200 mil. Compare to last summers films..... Top grosser (and IMO not the best of the bunch) Thor $181 mil. Cap America $176 mil, X-Men First Class $146 mil, and Green Lantern $116 mil. Obviously Thor is no Spiderman, but it was a better movie with better word of mouth than Superman. One could argue that Captain America should've reached Iron Man's box office take...but it didn't. You can't argue the economy because last years summer box office results were HUGE, and when you consider that ticket prices have increased over the years it's very apparent that people aren't flocking to see Comic book adaptations like they used to. (Even Batman Forever beat all of these films with it's $184 mil take back in 1995!)I love comic book movies, but even I've tired of their formulaic plot lines and I believe others have as well, which means the audience for these films is dwindling down to just the comic book fans themselves. This formulaic approach is already all too clear in the previews, and it will ultimately decide if the Avengers is a success, or a flop. My money is on it being a cool disappointment, and the only thing that's going to make it worth watching is the novelty of seeing all of these great characters on the screen at the same time. Dark Knight will be the peak of the genre....The Avengers will signal it's evident decline.
Aero027 on Feb 5, 2012
57
no one watches a trailer for character moments, subtext, depth, or character arcs they see a trailer to get pumped up enough to go see it in the theaters
Anonymous on Feb 5, 2012
58
plus, though you say the comic book movies may be burning out by now, this type of movie (even though its comics themed) hasn't really been done before. You're taking pieces...prequels of their own individuality...combining four to five stories/films...and massing them into one movie (Capt + Thor + Iron Man 1 & 2 + Hulk = The Avengers). In which case, audiences have had the desire, patience, and building up thrill and excitement to finally see it in theaters. No amounts of movie or comic burnouts are going to top this!
JBrotsis on Feb 6, 2012
59
Nonsense. This has been done before in numerous fashions. Comic books may be able to recognize the difference but to the average movie fan there's little difference between The Avengers and X-Men. We've already seen Thor, Cap America, The Hulk and Iron Man...and Iron Man is the only one that really brought in a lot of money. I'd be shocked if this film tops the original Iron Man in box office, and bet it settles in with average numbers and luke warm reception by audiences. The X-men and Fantastic Four movies aside....one thing that seems to kill most superhero franchises is by adding too many characters which bogs the movie down too much. X-Men 3, Spiderman 3, Batman Forever, and Wolverine (which also combined a lot of super hero's a lot of people wanted to see in one film). The Dark Knight has set a new standard...and no one is attempting to better the genre towards that mark, and that's why they're dying off. For all intents and purposes if you're following the trajectory that most super hero franchises take this could be little more than Iron Man 3.

Dude, its the Avengers, not the Avenger! it is an ensemble cast made to include the whole group. im just a bit disheartened that we never got a Hawkeye movie. Really looking forward to this and some good bits featured in the trailer. I like the fact you can see Mark Ruffalo's face in the Hulk's features. The bit with the explosion that Cap and Widow have to hide from behind Cap's shield while Thor just raises his arm. The bit with Hawkeye falling does remind of the bit in The Ultimates where Hawkeye and Black Widow storm a building Matrix style. I still can't tell who makes up Loki's Army. They seem almost insectoid in appearance. I do wish they had kept Cap's costume from his film though

Just hundreds of robot/ aliens that will be killed off like fodder and have no point in the movie to begin with. Enjoy giving your money for a terrible movie neckbeards.
