Watch: First Chilling Red Band Trailer for 'V/H/S' Horror Anthology

Hot on the heels of that great first teaser poster for the horror anthology V/H/S, which scared the crap out of us at a midnight show at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, we have the first red band trailer for the film, and damn does it send a chill down my spine after thinking back on all the found footage horror vignettes in this flick. The trailer sets the stage for the terror and shows bits and pieces from each of the six shorts made by directors Adam Wingard, Glenn McQuaid, Radio Silence, David Bruckner, Joe Swanberg and Ti West. This film is not just another average found footage horror flick. It's damn scary.
Here's the first red band trailer for the horror anthology V/H/S, originally from Yahoo:
When a group of misfits is hired by an unknown third party to burglarize a desolate house and acquire a rare VHS tape, they discover more found footage than they bargained for. Horror filmmakers Adam Wingard, Glenn McQuaid, Radio Silence, David Bruckner, Joe Swanberg and Ti West all direct segments in this chilling anthology which Magnolia is bringing to limited theaters on October 5th this fall. The film was produced by our friend Brad Miska of Bloody Disgusting, and also The Collective. It first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. We recorded this video blog of reactions after the midnight premiere. Scary?

Not sure if I would go quite to "Incredible" but..... it does look like it could be interesting and a lot of fun....couple of hours of stomach jumping, being startled and wanting to check if the doors are locked after it's over...I'm there

I can't say that I got a sense of anything from that trailer. Lots of screaming.....that's about it.

well - there was certainly some top-notch screaming......but, nothing really sold me on this.

So all around the place. I was scared because I just couldn't understand what to focus on lol. I'll hope for the best and still see it...

Not gonna lie, this looks creepy as fuck, and from a film makers perspective, its actually quite impressive! Just goes to show you that sometimes less is more! 😀

Less is indeed more. Except in the case of trailers...as usual. I would hazard a guess that a lot of very "key" jump/scare scenes were just revealed to us.

i know what you mean, and we've all seen that happen so many times, so i hope @beevis:disqus is wrong and it's *not* just screaming! everything about this film so far has me hooked. i'm with @LosZombies:disqus on this one - as a calling card for the film, i'm in there like swimwear. the Skype call child running past and the handprints on the wall alone sold me. i have lots of images, but i don't know how things are going to play out at all. colour me very effectively teased.

You guys, as someone who saw this at SXSW, it's the real thing. Creepy and bizarre and thoroughly unexpected. I know there's a lot of hype around indie horror flicks. I know we're all tired of found footage. I know it's easy to be cynical. But I promise: legitimately creepy and unsettling and weird. My favorite find from this year's SX. It's that good.

Wait...basically, these guys find a bunch of videotapes with creepy things happening to strangers? So it's like movies within a movie? Eventually they're gonna get hunted down by something they've watched themselves is my guess. I might be way off, but that's what I got from the trailer. It does look way creepy, though. I'm gonna wait until it's out on dvd or something and then watch it on a bright sunny afternoon, haha. Fuck watching that alone in the dark!

Eh, I'll watch it. A good horror is really, really rare these days. I just think it's good people try out different approaches.

Vague air quotes with no source aren't going to convince me.

This movie can't be released soon enough! I know Jeremy and Tim loved it and that's mostly a good indicator for me, very excited for this!
