Space Janitors Episode 1

"How many Officers do you know start out as a janitor?" If you're looking for some amusing weekend entertainment, here it is. The very first episode of a new Canadian web series called Space Janitors, which we teased a few weeks ago, has debuted online via The Escapist. It runs a brisk 3-1/2 minutes and features plenty of humorous Star Wars-inspired jokes, plus designs that ever so slyly skirt copyright issues, all the while parodying that sci-fi universe we've all come to know and love. It's a lot of fun, I'm looking forward to seeing more, despite the cheesy effects. But it is a web series! Give it a shot, watch the pilot episode below.

Here's the very first episode of Space Janitors, as premiered on The Escapist, where you can see it in HD.

Space Janitors is a new comedy sci-fi web series created and produced by Toronto-based Davin Lengyel and Geoff Lapaire. The series officially kicks off in full starting on April 13th, on their official website, but this is the first pilot episode with more to come on their blog in the next few weeks. We recently featured the teaser poster and character posters for more of the cast that will be seen. Space Janitors stars janitors Darby, played by Brendan Halloran, and Mike, played by Pat Thornton. I've been a longtime fan of the show Pure Pwnage, which was produced by the same guys who are now making this, so I've got a connection to it anyway, but I still think it's fun. Curious to see how this series plays out. Thoughts on Episode One?

We Canadians export some fierce performing talent, but we absolutely suck these days as producers (Arctic Air,  Flashpoint, Corner Gas, The Listener, I'm looking at you) I think we peaked with Trailer Park Boys.

Meh. Had potential, but I think they squandered some opportunities. Maybe the next one will be a bit better?

I thought the premise of the show was that they were janitors on the Death Star or Vader's Star Destroyer... At least that is the way it was advertised if I remember correctly. They lost my interest immediately once it was not in that universe, and I did not make it past the 1:45 mark.

I know what's missing.... timing! Seriously, I'm sick of Star Wars related fanboy stuff. It was done best in Chad Vader. It's not original or funny.
