Alex Cross Trailer

"I will meet his soul at the gates of hell before I let him take a person that I love from me." Summit has just released the first full trailer for Rob Cohen's action crime adaptation Alex Cross, based on the James Patterson's novels, starring Tyler Perry as Washington DC detective Dr. Alex Cross. This cat-and-mouse thriller pits Cross against a psychotic mob "hit man", played by Matthew Fox. The cast includes Rachel Nichols, Edward Burns, Jean Reno and John C. McGinley. This starts out great, but quickly divulges into Cohen's typical action explosions. Though it'll be cool to see Perry vs. Fox, they both look impressive.

Anyone else getting a Total Recall trailer vibe here, even though it's not sci-fi? Similar music-to-action mix.

After Washington DC detective Alex Cross (Tyler Perry) is told that his wife has been murdered, he vows to track down the killer (Matthew Fox). He soon discovers that she was not his first victim and that things are not what they seem. Alex Cross is directed by Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious, xXx, The Skulls) and written by Marc Moss (Along Came a Spider) and Kerry Williamson (based on novels by James Patterson) with Edward Burns and Jean Reno also starring in the film slated to hit theaters on October 26th this fall.

this is just.... the definition of shitty action movie. the only thing its missing is jason statham being a rogue ex-navy seal and liam neeson hitting people in the throat with his hand sideways. thumbs down

I'm gonna watch this and root for Matthew Fox, and that's NOT just because I hate Tyler Perry with the fury of a thousand flaming Pegasus. I also was sort-of into Lost for a while and watched it past the point that I cared, was rewarded with Jeremy Davies as Faraday, and then was ultimately disappointed by the way it ended, but still think they should have gone BACK TO THE ISLAND! WE NEED TO GO BACK! Also, yes, that is the plural of Pegasus. I want to see Matthew Fox rip Tyler Perry in half like so much phone book. I know it won't happen, but you can't crush my dreams. They're MINE to crush.

Drunk or Bored on Jun 25, 2012

T.P. seems utterly vacant. It looks like they cast an action flick with the has-beens from a Lifetime movie. I don't believe a second of this trailer.

Samiam on Jun 26, 2012

This looks like a waste of Matthew Fox, which says a lot really..

Heci on Jun 26, 2012

Shit just got real with Madea wait, what? :l

LosZombies on Jun 26, 2012

i would dread the day when he makes a movie like this with Madea involved...

Jericho on Jun 26, 2012

There is great competition between Madea & Bond , Jericho !!

Ehsan Davodi on Jun 26, 2012

"Little boy! Put da knife down!" "Your not the boss of me!" *typical angry Madea stare*

Ice Cube needs to bring an end to the Tyler Perry Oppression with a new Friday Trilogy.

Jesse Bangerter on Jun 26, 2012

OOH, I know a great title! 'Friday with the Kids' I'm sorry its just that 'Are We There Yet' and 'Are We Done Yet' are tainting him now...

Matthew South on Jun 27, 2012

That trailer showed the hole fucking movie...

Panda on Jun 26, 2012

LOL, yeah I hate it when trailers do this.

Christopher Dean on Jun 26, 2012

Ehsan Davodi on Jun 26, 2012

Anyone else want to see Matthew Fox in a reboot of Hitman after seeing this??

TKaihea on Jun 26, 2012

I was thinking that the entire time. Timothy Olyphant....... fuck the what on that one still.

Josef Saltpeppaketchup Woods on Jun 26, 2012

Yeah, and guess what: have him kill Tyler Perry as a random deucebag in the opening credits. With a dumptruck. Full of acid. Dropped from a crane.

When a person face to opinion that doesnot match with his opinion , True or False , he get front and insist on his opinion BUT after passing more time , slow slow slow , grey cells of unconscious part of his brain work on the drift , first concentrate on general then break it to the details and after that : analyse it , compare it , adopt it , reform it and OCCASIONALLY accept it. If mind's answer was : True! , that Remain Sparkles will turn to Burning Flames. Then Our comments can't tell the guys we are right or we are wrong at all. Just say what you like saying if you feel that is Better for progress of filmmaking. We owe to cinema even we have wrong ideas or some people be were disagree with us : /Go On/ I think Rob Cohen ruin the film , NOT Perry or Fox , he is cold director and inject his coldness under skin of this work. For me some of other work of him had same problem. I really like he got back his TOUGH.

Ehsan Davodi on Jun 26, 2012

Tyler Perry seems to be givin it his all dispite the weak dialogue. I'll check it out.

yaboykel on Jun 26, 2012

An Alex Cross movie would be better made along the lines of Se7en...not this.

Scott Ezell on Jun 26, 2012

all i heard was one piece of cliche dialogue after the other

armeetapus16 on Jun 26, 2012

I like dubstep. But it does not belong in every ad and or trailer. all in all. I will most likely rent this when it is available on DVD/Blu-ray.

Josef Saltpeppaketchup Woods on Jun 26, 2012

Wise Decision

Ehsan Davodi on Jun 26, 2012

Wow. This looks hilarious. It is a comedy right?

I really don't want to, but I want to see this... I know, I know.

Agent Kid Society on Jun 26, 2012

This looks atrocious. At least the original ones with Morgan Freeman tried to be intelligent with a Sherlock Holmes vibe in the modern day...this just looks so horribly un-unique. If they had crafted the trailer completely around the unique villain they could have had something really good. It's obvious Tyler Perry is fashioning this role to be his 'beard'.

Ehsan Davodi on Jun 26, 2012

this looks more like a direct to DVD kind of movie. T.P. as a BA Alex Cross? No thanks. And that tagline..."don't ever cross alex cross" hahaha. really that's all you could come up with? this will tank at the box office.

one on Jun 26, 2012

Ehsan Davodi on Jun 26, 2012

I don't know if you've ever read any of the books. But T.P. looks closer to the discription of Alex Cross than Morgan Freeman. Morgan Freeman is the man true indeed and much better actor. But based on his discription, T.P. is dead on.

yaboykel on Jun 26, 2012

He is supposed to resemple Ali... I don't see Perry or Freeman in that.

CarlM on Jun 26, 2012

how bout Will Smith *wink wink nudge nudge*

Matthew South on Jun 27, 2012

Approximately all of Tyler Perry works have same shape and style , he made many Madea movies , if Madea didn't work and he was compeletly bad actor , making sequels was impossible ! I'm not fan of Madea at all , but definitely believe Madea have his fans. Main Point is Tyler Perry know his abilities and his limits ( Reason : he don't bother hisself to play in shuffle categories, he did only madea and some llike that) He did mistake for playing this also but I am sure he didnt do it again. In other hand look to Fox , fox is talented actor , he is completely different with Tylor but if Tyler ruin show why Fox did it too? Nothing special in trailer he did. Why this guys didn't seem sweet in trailer, really? I think answer hide in this 2 Question : Why Wise Director Choose Guy That Don't Belong To Genre, Mean Perry? If answer is director is ok , perry ruin , I ask again then Why Director Can't Bring Good Performance From His Talented Actor, Mean Fox? Answer is simple , film is cheap and director failed in its target , I agree with one & Joseph , this is good but for straight to DVD/Bluray

Ehsan Davodi on Jun 26, 2012

denzel washington Should be Alex Cross I'm sorry but I just can't see past the Madea outfit to take him seriously.

silentjay on Jun 26, 2012

When Patterson describes Cross in the early books Washington seems to be the best fit. Possible a bit too old nowadays tho... Foxx, maybe...? -- I just realised how perfect that would be for a movie poster!

CarlM on Jun 26, 2012

Why the fuck is Tyler Perry in this. It's just wrong.

Nielsen700 on Jun 26, 2012

This reminds me of virtuosity in so many ways

Tance on Jun 26, 2012

This looks even worse than I originally thought it was gonna be.

DwainIBe on Jun 26, 2012

Loved the Patterson books but sorry I think Alex should look younger and clean cut. I do picture fox as the puzzle king.. BA big time... Where's roses are red and violets are blue..

Drinking game: Take a shot every time you read a something negative about Tyler Perry in this comment section.

JP on Jun 26, 2012

Ok,I NEVER leave comments....EVER, but I have to say NO and NO again to T.P. as an ACTOR! Sorry.:(

Ki on Jun 29, 2012

I think everyone here is grown up enough to know how to watch a new movie. First, the characters are separate from each other. Second, the ACTORS, are separate from each other.Third, the actors should be viewed as if you never saw them in any other movie. That's the only way to be objective when judging an actors performance IN THAT PARTICULAR MOVIE! Tyler Perry has a face that seems to always be ready to laugh at something funny to him. Matthew Fox, something in his eyes, that's where you find the true nature of the character he portrays in this movie. I think they both did a great job. I am able to look past the other things they have done in order to come to this conclusion. I never watched Lost but I did see an EPISODE-PARTY OF FIVE. Matthew Fox has done alot of growing as an actor and will only get better. Can't wait to see it and the movie!
