Sinister Trailer

"He consumes the souls of human children." Meet Mr. Boogie. Summit has unveiled the first trailer late tonight via Bloody-Disgusting for Scott Derrickson's Sinister, a highly-buzzed about horror film that won over critics and fans at a surprise SXSW screening earlier this year (Jeremy's review here). The horror flick stars Ethan Hawke as a true-crime novelist who moves into a new house that seems to have a mysterious connection to a horrific family murder. It was co-written by AICN's Massawyrm, aka C. Robert Cargill, and is kind of a found footage mix that Jeremy calls a "welcomed discomfort" in the horror genre. View below!

Watch the first official trailer for Scott Derrickson's Sinister, in high def from Bloody-Disgusting:

Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Day the Earth Stood Still) directs Sinister which he also wrote along with newcomer C. Robert Cargill. Ethan Hawke stars as a struggling crime novelist whose desire for a new story leads him to the site of a horrific family murder. However, his investigation threatens to put his family in harms way as something still resides in the house that may be the key to learning the truth about the past murders. The cast includes Vincent D'Onofrio, Clare Foley, James Ransone and Fred Dalton Thompson. Summit currently has Sinister scheduled to arrive in theaters October 12th this fall. Curious?

yeah, but don't you just love these kinds of trailers where the tempo to a heartbeat or (loose film reel) is edited with images that last only one second or shorter?

I never expect much from any horror movie these days, but the PA series and Insidious gave me a couple of frights... so, yes, I'm hoping this one will live up to it's predecessors

O.O Insidious was great until the final act, this looks like it could go either way...I loved the trailer it set the mood and the chills came early on. I especially loved the shot of the box when Hawke's character first saw it. I'm in.

totally true, if they hold back on taking it too far and just keep it to the skin crawling stuff instead of the ridiculous, it could be really good. it's worth a see to me.

While I myself could give this one the pass, I know my nieces are going to want to see it. As Sean Kelly said earlier, looks pretty similar to most pop-up horrors nowadays.

Thexn on Jun 14, 2012

just a tiresome concept and they pretty much showed the whole film in the trailer. bad bad bad.
