"I dreamed a dream…" Universal has debuted the first teaser trailer for Tom Hooper's Les Misérables musical adaptation, starring Hugh Jackman as prisoner Jean Valjean and Anne Hathaway as Fantine in the big screen version. We also get glimpses of Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Samantha Barks as Éponine and Eddie Redmayne. MSN debuted this first teaser trailer, which primarily features Hathaway singing "I Dreamed a Dream" on top of Hooper's spectacular visuals. She sounds pretty damn good. It looks like an epicly grand, magnificent, visually wonderful musical and I'm sure it will be an event this fall. Enjoy!
Watch the first official trailer for Tom Hooper's Les Misérables, originally debuted on MSN:
Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) is directing Les Miserables, an adaptation of the successful stage musical based on Victor Hugo's classic novel set in 19th-century France, in which a paroled prisoner named Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman) seeks his redemption. Alain Boublil adapted his own work with Claude-Michel Schonberg, who also wrote the stage musical, Herbert Kretzmer and William Nicholson. The film also stars Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen and Eddie Redmayne and will hit theaters everywhere starting on December 14th later this winter. Looking good?

Crowe looks like he's constipated. He is going to single-handedly ruin this great musical.

Uh, there's like 2 shots of him and he doesn't say a word. Reaching much?

5
No I am not reaching much. You would be reaching if you thought Crowe can sing.

I doubt you have ever heard Crowe sing so you can't have an opinion on that. Also - it would be a good thing for Russell Crowe to look constipated - that's the character. Javert is SUPPOSE to look like he has a pole stuck up his butt.

Visually, the movie looks amazing. I love how it looks like they shot the entire thing using super wide lenses.

Looks good, I saw the musical once, don't remember it so much, but my girlfriend was crying at the end. I remember reading about the revolution and how people used it as a way to settle their debt, they'd say their landlord was for the other side and before they could argue about it, head off via guillotine. Fun times

Sorry, but the story doesn´t happen in THAT revolution you are thinking in (In The XVIIIth century), but in another one in the XIXth.

Hope they do it totally in English, without any French dialect. I hated A Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, because the f'ing tv spoke Swedish, but the characters spoke English. WHYYYY HOLLYWOOD WHYYY??? Makes no sense. Looks good and Hathaway seems to know how to sing.

By now people should understand that an adaptation by a county whose language is basically English would make a film in the English language...the answer is right in front of you...and it does make sense. A lot of American movie goers don't want to read subtitles...I'm sure there are a bunch of polish people that don't want to read polish subtitles.

International Views vs Rasict Views " Les Miserables " is Immortal Eternal Story about "Greed" , " Pride " , " Sacrifice " , " Suffer " , " Pain " , " Emotions " , " Humanity " , " Morality " , " Love " and " MISEREBILITY " This is Renessance of Stories , Revolutionary Book , Most Affective & Readable Book After Bible (at least in from my pointview) Yes Many films be made On this Book , then A Musical Version can be fresh air , I think for every generation we need a new release and yes I love next one would be had another theme & tone. Then after surprising " King Speech " this Dancing King Wana back. " Les Miserables " cinematic adaptions even in bad ones are very better than this shallow hallow childish mindless soulless movies. This is not another American Sherlock Holems(fan of it) Everyone that dislike artful dark musical drama about same Javer & Jean ValJan keep away from this Bravo mr.Tobe Hooper Your ambition in Secondry cinematic art is admirable . Yes , too soon but Spectacular Job . Wait for end results

As a first trailer for a movie not yet completed, this is perfect. It sets up the premise of a destroyed Fantine and a Cossette to be rescued. There will be much much more to come before December. I included a link to video on my blog today http://jdurward.blogspot.com/2012/05/i-believe-in-miracles.html

you cannot see Hugh Jackman in many dramatic roles, but I think he's a great actor, and he should be considered more often for those. I remember him in The Fountain and that was enough for me.

Just wanted to mention that last December it was announced by the director (Tom Hooper) that it will NOT be in 3D. Unless there is a new update since then.

This looks (and sounds) terrific. Go ahead and give Anne Hathaway her Oscar now for this performance.

I'm one of many Musical Theatre students who know the show backwards and scene for scene and if I'M getting goosebumps all over my body then folks you have nothing to fear. This WILL be immense!

If the rest of of the title characters sing as horrifically awful as Anne Hathaway this is going to tank... At least for those of us who believe amazing vocals are at the heart of this story. It's obvious, they went with box office 'A' list actors instead of those who could actually carry a tune.

Oh don`t be so negative about Hathaway. To be honest I didn`t like her acting but then I saw this teaser;) I know its not much but it was enought to give me goosebumps. Maybe she is not a music star but the amount of emiotion in her voice was just brilliant! And I know what I am talking about, I have heard a lot of professional interpretations of "I dream a dream" an this one in my opinion was one of the best. Time will tell...
