Watch: First Trailer for 'Chasing Mavericks' with Surfer Gerard Butler
"This is going to change everything." Remember Point Break? OK, take Keanu Reeves going undercover with the FBI and the bank robbery out of the equation, and you're basically left with the part where Bodhi (Patrick Swayze) wants to surf the 50 Year Storm out at Bell's Beach, and everyone thinks he's crazy for wanting to do it. That's essentially what Chasing Mavericks is, a new film based on the life of Jonny Moriarty, a surfing legend who conquered a huge wave when he was only 16 years old. Jonny Weston plays Moriarty, and Gerard Butler stars as the mentor who teaches him how to master the unthinkable.
Here's the first trailer for Curtis Hanson's Chasing Mavericks, originally from MTV:
Surfer Jay Moriarity (Gerard Butler) sets out to ride the Northern California break known as Mavericks.
Chasing Mavericks is directed by veteran filmmaker Curtis Hanson, of films like The Little Dragons, Bad Influence, The River Wild, L.A. Confidential, 8 Mile and Lucky You previously. The screenplay was written by newcomers Brandon Hooper (Last Flight of the Raven) & Kario Salem (The Score). 20th Century Fox will be releasing Hanson's Chasing Mavericks in theaters starting on October 26th this fall. Anyone into this?

Reminds me of Surfs Up.....and looks like King Leonidas has got a new hobbie instead of choping people up.
