Watch: Full Trailer for Oliver Stone's Drug Trafficking Thriller 'Savages'

Earlier this week the first poster for the adaptation of Savages, Don Winslow's book of the same name, from director Oliver Stone (Wall Street, Platoon) showed up, and some keen readers noticed that it was kind of a rip-off of the poster for Babel from back in 2006. Well, the trailer for the film makes the film look like anything but a rip-off and just might mark the return of the edgy, quality filmmaking that Stone was known for decades ago. With a cast including Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Johnson, Blake Lively, Uma Thurman, John Travolta, Salma Hayek, Emile Hirsch and more, this should be quite the thriller.
Here's the first trailer for Oliver Stone's adaptation of Savages originally from MTV:
Oliver Stone directs Savages based on Don Winslow's book of the same name, with the screenplay co-written by the author and screenwriter Shane Salerno. The story follows two young, independent Laguna Beach marijuana kingpins (Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson) who are blackmailed into working for the Baja Cartel after their girlfriend Ophelia (Blake Lively) is kidnapped and held for a ransom of every last dollar they've made for the past five years. Benicio del Toro, Salma Hayek, John Travolta, Emile Hirsch and Uma Thurman also star in the film which is currently slated for theatrical release on July 6th. Interested?

What a stupid phony made up name. Even if it is his real name. It just sounds corny.

with all due respect to your boner, salma hayek can NOT act.......not a little bit. i actually laughed at her trying to sound menacing.

I was shocked at how bad her "acting" has gotten. Didn't know it was possible to get any worse.

i absolutely agree! she has never done anything that was any good at all; and, i didn't think she could get worse.....then i watch this trailer -and she's found a whole new level of awful. i really did laugh when she was saying her lines - just pitiful.

Stone's been off his game for a long, long time. That said, this seems ok? But I'm not 100% sold. The trailer could be conveniently omitting a generous heaping of ham-fisted imagery, craptastic editing, lackluster story and horrendously obvious over-tones.....ugh, now that its spring in New York and all the street vendors are selling Bubble-Guns I get terrible flashbacks to Wall Street 2 and want to write off modern Stone movies for good.

Yup it's gonna be bad. The trailer already made it look cliche and unoriginal.

The trailer made it seem that way, but the book is anything but that. It's (the book) is actually pretty awesome. Not totally sold on this though...

At what point do the two guys that are nailing the same girl kill each other? You know it's coming. That would bore me.

Blake Lively's an actress, huh? I thought she was just some Paris Hilton type for the paparazzi. Seems like this movie needs a little more NBK vibe, but it could be passable.

I feel bad for Del Toro. Why his agent conned him into such a movie is beyond me, but then again maybe he just wanted to be in a Stone movie.

I like the cast, decent enough plot I'd watch it but whats killing me is Selma's hair...whats with this hairstyle. Never seen anyone make this style look good. Not a fan of Blake lively, don't get me wrong I don't dislike her either I'm neutral-though after green lantern I'm questioning her acting abilities. but she looks the same everywhere I see her.
