Almost a year and a half ago we got a teaser trailer for Wong Kar Wai's The Grandmasters, an upcoming martial arts project about Ip Man, the legendary martial arts grand master who trained Bruce Lee, but we haven't heard anything since then. Tony Leung and Zhang Ziyi star in the film that looks like it has visuals as impressive as the kung fu fighting within. This is an international trailer that gives a December release, but we're not sure if that means we'll see The Grandmasters here in the States before 2012 is over. Either way, this looks like a fantastic foreign film that deserves some attention if it gets a theatrical release.
Here's the new full length trailer for Wong Kar Wai's The Grandmasters from Sina (via Twitch):
The story of martial arts grand master Ip Man (Tony Leung Chiu Wai), the man who trained Bruce Lee.
The Grandmasters is directed by highly acclaimed Chinese filmmaker Wong Kar Wai, of films including Chungking Express, Ashes of Time, Happy Together, In the Mood for Love, 2046 and My Blueberry Nights previously. The screenplay was co-written by Wong Kar Wai, Haofeng Xu and Zou Jingzhi, from a story by Wong Kar Wai. This isn't set for release in China until 2012 and although Annapurna Pictures has US rights, we don't know when we'll see it here in the United States. Stay tuned and check out: Wong Kar Wai News.

It'll be hard for anything to beat the movie "Ip Man" in my book. I've even been on a Wong Kar Wai kick lately, but I'm hesitant because it seems so much more about flavor and style than the substance of the 2008 flick.
