Watch: Haunted House Documentary 'The American Scream' Trailer
"Halloween brings the whole community together." One indie documentary that fits perfectly in this month and deserbes some extra attention is this one, The American Scream, directed by Michael Stephenson, the same guy behind the doc Best Worst Movie about the cult horror disaster Troll 2. This time he covers the surprisingly interesting topic of house haunters, or the obsession with design/creating a haunted house for Halloween every October. It earned numerous rave reviews at Fantastic Fest and honestly looks like a fascinating yet entertaining and amusing doc about the passion folks have for scaring the crap out of others.
Here's the full trailer for Michael Stephenson's doc The American Scream, uploaded on YouTube:
Chances are you’ve come across one in your lifetime. Your neighbor may be one. Your co-worker may be one. There could even be one in your family. Sometimes they operate alone and sometimes they involve their loved ones. The moment they wait for is over in what seems like the blink of an eye but there can be months of planning, designing and building leading up to a night of terror. They are home haunters.
In the idyllic East Coast town of Fairhaven, Massachusetts, three Halloween-obsessed households transform into neighbor-terrifying supernatural wonderlands in this surprisingly touching documentary from the director of cult hit doc Best Worst Movie, American filmmaker Michael Stephenson. This first premiered at Fantastic Fest last month (Jeremy's review) and will get a very limited theatrical tour throughout October.

Looks somewhat like the movie Screamer, although Screamer follows a single group of people trying to build a successful haunted house for like 5 years, funny movie and well done for run and gun.
