G.I. Joe: Retaliation

There was already a lot of promotion for G.I. Joe: Retaliation earlier this year, but that was before the film was delayed for a 3D conversion (and maybe some new scenes and more Channing Tatum) and slated for release in late March next year instead. Now some time has passed and it's time to get the hype machine rolling again. There's plenty of new lines from Bruce Willis, a new scene with Tatum too and word from Ain't It Cool's BNAT 14 said the ninja sequence in the mountains was incredible and the 3D conversion looked really good. Hopefully this delay was worth it and we'll have fun with the Joes in March.

Here's the newest trailer for Jon M. Chu's G.I. Joe: Retaliation, originally from Yahoo:

G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation is being directed by Jon M. Chu (Step Up 2 & 3D, "The LXD", Justin Bieber: Never Say Never) from a script by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick. Channing Tatum returns as Duke, along with Ray Park as Snake Eyes and Lee Byung-hun as Storm Shadow. Other newcomers to the cast include Bruce Willis as General Joseph B. Colton, Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye, Ray Stevenson as Firefly, Joseph Mazzello as Mouse, Arnold Vosloo as Zartan, D.J. Cotrona as Flint, and RZA as the Blind Master. Paramount is planning to release G.I. Joe: Retaliation starting on March 29th, 2013 next spring.

Looks cool and all, but I hope the re-shoots made this a better movie.

Well, if they keep this up in about 5 years and another 27 trailers we should have a pretty darn good in our hands

Tester on Dec 12, 2012

pretty darn good movie in our hands <-- doofus

Tester on Dec 12, 2012

I believe Ethan Anderton meant to say 'March 29th of 2013', which would be 'next spring';... not "March 29th 2012"!! Anyway,'s big gamble for Paramount to have delayed the film a whole year just for a '3D Conversion'! Conversions are just not as visually impactful,...and therefore not worth the extra up-charge on ticket prices. I bought into the "conversion up-charge" idea back when 'Clash Of The Titans' came out. Never again. There was no more impact in the '3D Conversion' than there was in the 2D version. As a whole, it made absolutely no difference, other than the '3D Conversion' was a total waste of time and money better spent on a real 3D film!

Marcó on Dec 12, 2012

Clash of the Titans was released back in 2010. 1. The conversion process and result has improved since then. 2. It wasn't even the best conversion it could have been at the time, it was a rush-job done in about 6 weeks, whereas a conversion like Titanic took about a year, if not a little more.

Chris Groves on Dec 12, 2012

I'm not saying this movie will be good. But conversions CAN be done at a high level. Take Pacific Rim for example, I believe the decision to go 3D was made in August or September. Del Toro decided to start the conversion process right then and there in order to devote as much time to it as possible. He also mandated that all of the CGI shots and elements would be rendered and delivered in native 3D from the get-go. They aren't completing the film and then converting it in a few months, like a lot of films do.

hooray another episode of GI Joe

Andrew on Dec 12, 2012

That one shot with Joe in the back of the El Camino? Please reshoot that. It looks like the Dukes of Hazzard tv show.

Okay one of the last shots of the trailer is the satellite weapon exploading... Why spoil the ending like that? I don't get trailers that show vital parts of the movie at all. A trailer should be just a tease that shows barley enough to get you interested, and nothing more! Anyways that being said it does look decent and way better then the first one, it'll be a fun movie to catch.

Jeremy P. on Dec 12, 2012

You didn't think they were gonna destroy the mega, bad, evil weapon at the end of the movie? If the trailer showed a character getting killed then get upset, but getting your panties in a knot over something that you expect to happen anyway is just nitpicking.

Christopher Dean on Dec 12, 2012

The exact same thing I was thinking Jeremy...pretty weird they showed the satellite exploding...

Race Bannon on Dec 12, 2012

hahah still looks lame as shit

blahhhh on Dec 12, 2012

Trailer is good but NOT the rap music in it! Are they trying to appeal to the Ghetto?

The Truth on Dec 12, 2012

Rap music is for white middle class people.

If you actually listen to the song (little weapon) its got a pretty serious message about child soldiers being forced to fight, its almost ironic that they use it to promote an american action movie

affrgbhqethq on Dec 12, 2012

Child soldiers are so hot right now! But really no-one listens to the lyrics.

Carpola on Dec 12, 2012

I agree the choice of music sucks, but rap has been creating suburbanite "wiggers" for at least 20 years now.

grimjob on Dec 12, 2012

The subject of this song, though ironic to this movie, is very serious and it actually suits it imo.

TK on Dec 13, 2012

Here's hoping it turns out good. The first one was okay, it had it's moments, but it wasn't really anything special. Between Johnson and Willis, though, this one certainly has a better cast.

Chris Groves on Dec 12, 2012

Yo Joe!

BloodwerK on Dec 12, 2012

Is it wrong being British but still getting a warm glow seeing London getting spanked? I mean, I'm not saying *everyone* in the UK hates London - I'm sure a handful of people who *have* to live there think it's okay. Maybe.

Chris on Dec 12, 2012

Its kinda like seeing New York for an American, only huge difference between them besides nationality is one has 1000 more years of history lol

Cody W on Dec 12, 2012

WTF!!!! That DEll AD is really annopying!!! I couldnt stop it to save my life. Seriously.

Seth Pyrzynski on Dec 12, 2012

I didn't think GI Joe was a bad movie, it was a fun movie with a fun cast. It didn't try to be more than it was.

Jon Odishaw on Dec 12, 2012

I think it looks entertaining, should be a fun watch.

grimjob on Dec 12, 2012

why is everybody so serious...this G.I. Joe. The trailer is awsome

Marck joseph on Dec 12, 2012

This looks way better than the last trailer, which had Poopy written all over it. Looks like the re-shoots of 90 minutes, errrr, uhhhh, I mean, 3D conversion of the film may just work out to be a decent movie,

JoeM on Dec 12, 2012

Looks like all they did was add more Bruce Willis...

Andrew Hanke on Dec 12, 2012

...add some rap music, kids love the rap music

JJ King on Dec 12, 2012

I am a sucker for the first movie. I really like the original GI Joe movie. What did it for me was that everyone on the film seemed to know that the movie was going to be terrible so they just had fun with it and it worked. I have much more respect for a terrible movie that knows its terrible, then a movie that is terrible and thinks it's awesome...*Transformers*.

TK on Dec 13, 2012

They should have stuck with the dubstep.
