Broken City

After that cologne advertisement of a movie poster hit yesterday, we now have a much better impression of Allen Hughes' new thriller Broken City starring Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe. In a broken city rife with injustice, ex-cop Billy Taggart (Wahlberg) seeks redemption and revenge after being double-crossed and then framed by its most powerful figure, the mayor (Crowe). This looks pretty intense, and there might even be some twists and turns to keep audiences guessing. Crowe seems to be putting in another solid performance, and this should be a refreshing film in the normally dead box office month of January.

Here's the first trailer for Allen Hughes' Broken City originally from Apple:

Broken City is directed by Allen Hughes (From Hell, The Book of Eli) and written by Brian Tucker. The film follows an ex-cop-turned-private detective who is hired by the mayor (Russell Crowe) to see if his wife is cheating on him. The private eye (Mark Wahlberg) confirms those suspicions, and when the mayor's wife's cheating partner ends up dead, the private eye immerses himself in the mayor's business and uncovers a real estate scandal that involves the official dealing himself city-owned properties. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Kyle Chandler and Barry Pepper also star in the film slated to hit theaters on January 18th, 2013. Excited?

Ok so we know Marky Mark did somethin' real bad at the beginning of this movie, and then later on, Russ uses it to his advantage. Then, Whalberg counter attacks and exposes Russ to the world and finds a way to explain/defend his actions, thus getting his redemption. Russ is either dead or in arrested by the end of the movie. Just saved everyone 10$. Those idiots just ruined the movie with this dumbass trailer. Way to keep a mystique around the movie.....

Lol yeeeahh pretty much, its gotten to the point though where movies are all falling into certain genre stereotypes that even if the trailer didnt expose all of this you couldve figured out how it was all gonna end up. Especially with Marky mark in the lead, hes always typecast as "dude who gets screwed then finds retribution/justice"...Ill pass

I like the smugness of Russell Crowe's character. Good and bad he's got a smirk on his face and a tone to his voice. Could be fun to watch.

Nice seeing Russell and Mark in a film...............really like them both but find it surprising as awhile ago Mark said he was finished with action films and those that his kids could not watch.............

Hollywood really needs a new CD for music used in trailers.

I found it a little disappointing that they used footage of the same car chase in about four different shots. I'm sure it'll be a good movie, but chopping up one scene like that feels like the guys making the trailer ran out of exciting shots to use in two minutes.

Once, just ONCE would I like to view a mainstream trailer for a movie where not 70% is shown....
