The Magic of Belle Isle Trailer

"Most times, real life doesn't measure up to what's in our heads, but every now and then it comes pretty close." Magnolia has debuted the trailer via Apple for the latest charming Rob Reiner film The Magic of Belle Isle, starring Morgan Freeman as a famous Western novelist whose struggle with alcoholism has sapped his passion for writing, but he moves to a small rural town called Belle Isle and reignites his passion thanks to a woman, Virginia Madsen, and her three kids. The cast also includes Kenan Thompson, Madeline Carroll and Fred Willard. This looks as delightful as any old timer Morgan Freeman flick can.

Watch the first official trailer for Rob Reiner's The Magic of Belle Isle, in high def from Apple:

In an effort to tap into his original talent, a wheelchair-bound author (Morgan Freeman) moves to a rural town, where he befriends a single mother and her three kids, who help to reignite his passion for writing.

The Magic of Belle Isle is directed by Oscar nominated filmmaker Rob Reiner, of many great films like This Is Spinal Tap, Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men, The Story of Us, Rumor Has It, The Bucket List and Flipped. The screenplay was written by Guy Thomas (Wholly Moses!). Magnolia Pictures is releasing The Magic of Belle Isle in limited theaters starting on July 6th this summer.

Looks pretty good. I've had a crush on Virginia Madsen ever since I saw Hot to Trot as a kid.

Nah, I'll wait to see Morgan Freeman in Dark Knight Rises. This film looks as bad as Green Lantern.

I liked him in grumpy alcoholic mode, it's only in films that people appear to transform like that. Before I watched this, I was going to make a joke about Freeman being the only elderly black man in the universe, but he is a great actor, so I can see why he gets all the roles.
