The Master Promo

"I'm in love." TWC has debuted a fourth trailer for The Master, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams and Joaquin Phoenix. The first two were curious teaser trailers, then we finally got a full theatrical trailer last month, now we have another promo trailer/clip like those first two. This isn't made for regular distribution, as it's actually just a promo for tonight's upcoming screening of The Master in Chicago. $10 at the Music Box Theatre, lucky folks around the Illinois area. The focus in this trailer is mostly on Joaquin Phoenix and Amy Adams, but it doesn't show too much. However, this still looks absolutely tremendous.

Watch the new promo trailer for PTA's The Master for the Music Box Theatre, found by The Film Stage:

A 1950s-set drama centered on the relationship between a charismatic intellectual known as "the Master" whose faith-based organization begins to catch on, and a young drifter who becomes his right-hand man.

Paul Thomas Anderson (the man behind films like Boogie Nights, Magnolia, There Will Be Blood) wrote and directed The Master. The film follows Lancaster Dodd (Philip Seymour Hoffman) a charismatic leader who creates a new religion in the 1950's and his main disciple (Joaquin Phoenix), an alcoholic drifter named Freddie Sutton who becomes Dodd's closest follower, only to later break away from his teachings. The Master was secretly shown in 70mm at the Aero this month and will hit theaters starting September 14th.

This film looks like it's from another time, like it's already a classic.

I fucking wish I could revisit Chicago for this. I'm dying to see it.
