"It's not gunna kill you to talk to your kids… You might be surprised what they have to say." Written, directed & starring Billy Bob Thornton, this 60s-set family drama stars a solid ensemble cast, but looks a bit too dramatic to stand out. Thanks to a tip by SlashFilm, we've got a first look at the international trailer for Jayne Mansfield's Car, the first feature being directed by actor Billy Bob Thornton since Daddy & Them in 2001. Thornton stars with a cast including Robert Duvall, John Hurt, Kevin Bacon, Robert Patrick, Ray Stevenson and Shawnee Smith. This actually looks quite charming. Check it out below.

A drama set down South in 60s Alabama about two families from different countries whose cultures clash.
Jayne Mansfield's Car is directed by award-winning actor Billy Bob Thornton, who previously directed films like Sling Blade, All the Pretty Horses and Daddy & Them. The screenplay was written by Thornton & Tom Epperson, involving Jayne Mansfield's actual car in some way. This premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, but doesn't have a US distributor yet, so we have no official release details just yet. Anyone interested?

I saw the film on this years Berlinale. It was really charming, one of the best films i saw at the festival. On the press conference Billy Bob said, how this film reflects his own relationship to his father. It was a fun film, sometimes sad, sometimes really funny, most of the time because of the clash of the titans (Robert Duvall vs. William Hurt).

The movie looks like it should be good. I wonder how Mariska Hargitay feels about it.
