[REC] 3: Genesis

There's lots of buzz coming from the South by Southwest Film Festival right now. From Jeremy's review of Cabin in the Woods, to a deep fried teaser poster for Killer Joe, many films are getting a big push online as more and more people see them. Now we have a great peek at another SXSW selected film in the form of a new trailer for [REC] 3: Genesis, where a wedding gets out of control when the infamous mutant virus infests the guests of Clara (Leticia Dolera) and Koldo's (Diego Martin) day of holy matrimony. It'll be interesting to see more of the origin of the deadly virus, especially in a setting like this. Watch it below!

Here's the latest official trailer for Paco Plaza's sequel [REC] 3: Genesis, originally from Empire:

Paco Plaza and Jaume Balaguero, who co-directed both [REC] and [REC] 2, are co-developing this prequel as well as the sequel [REC] Apocalypse, together, but then each will go solo for the directing gigs with Plaza helming Genesis and Balaguero taking Apocalypse. Genesis will explore the origins of the mutant virus that has turned people into zombies (which was only partially explained in [REC] 2) with co-writer Luis Berdejo returning to write the prequel with Plaza. The film stars Leticia Dolera, Diego Martín and Javier Botet and is set to hit Spain and SXSW 2012 this month. Stay tuned for U.S. release details.

One of the very few decent horror franchises these days. Can't wait to see it.

Conscience is the root of all true courage; if a man would be brave let him obey his conscience.

my nipples are getting hard just thinking about this. Rec2 was a successful sequel in that it really pushed the story forward. Looks like they're ditching the shaky cam concept for this one. We shall see how that holds up against the last 2.

The other films were so dark, (as they were set in a blackout), this looks pretty different with it being lit up more. Still down for this though.

What did you think of the first two? Just curious... 😀

i enjoyed the first one. the second not so much - it's more preference really.....i l never liked the horror movies where military type personel are "sent in" to recon/control the outbreak. also, i liked the first quarantine too - yea, the shaky-cam annoyed me - but i did enjoy the movie. the second one wasn't as good action-wise, but i liked how it built the tension. this one - it looks to capture an everyday event (wedding) and send it in a very NOT everyday direction. that's what i liked about quarnatine2. a seemingly ordinary flight turned into something very bad.

The first one was better than the second; I enjoyed the second one too though. Hope the third will be as good as it looks. Thanks for the reply, beevis. Cheers!

I stabbed myself it looks so good! I can't wait for this, I've been waiting for this even before [REC] 2 came out.  I'm going to fly to Spain to watch the premier of the forth film, I will get there no matter what it takes!
