Once in your life you find someone so rare. Artificial Eye Film from the UK has debuted an official trailer for Pawel Pawlikowski's romantic mystery thriller The Woman in the Fifth, starring Ethan Hawke and Kristin Scott Thomas. Based on Douglas Kennedy's book, a college lecturer flees to Paris after a scandal, where he meets a widow who might be involved in a series of murders. This looks intense and mysterious, but also quite bland, to be honest. I'm not sure why the dialogue is only on the left, and the video is so dark, as it is from the distributor. If you're a fan of either Hawke or Scott Thomas, then dive in and give it a shot.

American writer Tom Ricks comes to Paris desperate to put his life together again. There he meets Margit, a mysterious stranger, and their intense, passionate relationship triggers a string of inexplicable events.
The Woman in the Fifth is both written & directed by Polish filmmaker Pawel Pawlikowski, of the films The Stringer, Last Resort and My Summer of Love previously. This is based on Douglas Kennedy's novel first published in 2007. This premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, where it was picked up by ATO Pictures. As far as we know it doesn't have a US release date yet, but hits UK theaters February.

Different conceptions about what's bland. Most of Spielberg films are really bland, a lot of superheroes movies look quite bland, etc, etc...
