Watch: Nicolas Cage & Sami Gayle in Simon West's 'Stolen' Trailer
"This all depends on you." Where the heck do these Nicolas Cage movies keep coming from?! Every couple of months, we get a trailer for something I've never heard of it and it has Cage in it, acting like a maniac like always. This latest one is called Stolen, and it's one of those high concept heist crime thrillers, oh boy. The concept is actually printed right on the poster: 12 hours. $10 million. 1 kidnapped daughter. This is directed by Simon West, of Expendables 2 - yea, get that! Also stars Sami Gayle as his daughter, Malin Akerman, Josh Lucas, Danny Huston, Mark Valley and M.C. Gainey. I kind of want to see how he gets her out.
Watch the first trailer for Simon West's other new action movie Stolen, originally from Yahoo:
A former thief is released from prison after a bank robbery gone awry. He decides to visit his daughter, but when an old partner finds out, he kidnaps her and locks her in the trunk of his cab, demanding a ransom: the $10 million he believes Will still has. He doesn't, and must rob another bank. Mayhem ensues.
Stolen is directed by filmmaker Simon West, of Con Air, The General's Daughter, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, When a Stranger Calls, The Mechanic and The Expendables 2 previously. The screenplay was written by David Guggenheim, of the thriller Safe House from this year. This was filmed down in New Orleans before West went on to shoot Expendables. Millennium Ent. will release Stolen, finally, starting September 14th.
Looks like he's going full Cage!

Never go full Cage. Never.
Quanah on Aug 17, 2012
He'll never outwork Sam Jackson. This is just another Taken rip off. And damnit, Cage gets uglier by the second.... He should just wait for Expendables 3 and/or Face/Off 2 and then retire...

Yeah because Taken is the only film ever with a hostage. This is nothing like Taken

They're bringing back the trailer-narrator AND knocking off Taken? I'm there!
Matt on Aug 17, 2012
Seriously...they could've made a better tittle than "Stolen" what ever happened to obscure movie titles instead of super agressive plot point titles, Taken, Forgotton, Gone, Contraband. So annoying I love obscure movie titles like Lost in Translation, etc.

Nicolas Cage needs money so you can hire him even for a dora the explorer reboot!

Stolen-Definition..."to take something without permission" (past tense) Synonyms: Abducted, Kidnapped, Taken... hang on, that last one seems familiar

Whats with the 80's style trailers recently? A trailer is supposed to have its own sound track. You could hear the music coming through from the scenes, which made the pacing choppy as hell... and I was glad those rubbish narrators were out of work or talking about what happened on last week's episode of Hell's Kitchen. Whats going on? Please tell me this isn't a thing now

Nicolas Cage I think is a good actor, but this looks poor. He can and should be making more of an effort to appear in better films.

Ladies and gentlemen: Academy Award winner Nick Cage.

Is this a Funny or Die spoof?
Ryderup on Aug 19, 2012
Why are people comparing this to Taken. Yea, someone gets kidnapped but how many other movies has that happened? Especially to a daughter? Come on people.

Everyone loves a good "tittle".

How'd it get burned?! How'd it get burned?! How'd it get burned?!

Wait... people still do voice-overs in trailers?
Mithun Divakaran on Aug 19, 2012
This felt like one of those bad trailers attached to an already crappy movie on a worn out VHS tape in the 90's.
Sean Newsom on Aug 19, 2012
That voice over work is terrible, the trailer could have been salvageable if not for that.
Fatal Error on Aug 20, 2012
Yup, total taken rip-off. Yeah there are lots of hostage films out there, but this is too close to the release of Taken 2. It didn't have to be so unimaginative. A daughter kidnapped. A deadline. The father has amazing skills. Even the title is synonymous with Taken. Looks crap.
