Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann in First Trailer for Apatow's 'This is 40'

Five years following the events of Knocked Up, we're catching up with Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) as they inch closer to being over the hill in the first trailer for This is 40 from director Judd Apatow. Honestly, I have to say it doesn't seem to be quite as funny as Knocked Up or The 40-year Old Virgin, but this trailer still brings plenty of laughs. We also get a glimpse at Jason Segel and Melissa McCarthy in the trailer, but the cherry on the sundae is the compromising position in which we see Rudd towards the end of the trailer, something that I'm betting certain married couples know all too well. Watch!
Here's the first official trailer for Judd Apatow's comedy This is 40, in high def from Apple:
This is 40 comes from writer director Judd Apatow and acts as a sort of unofficial sequel to Knocked Up, following the characters Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) from the 2007 comedy as they deal with aging and the trials and tribulations of having a family in this day and age. Jason Segel is also reprising his role from Knocked Up while new cast members include Megan Fox, Albert Brooks, John Lithgow, Chris O'Dowd, Melissa McCarthy, Lena Dunham and of course Apatow's kids Maude and Iris. Universal is bringing the comedy to theaters on December 21st later this year, just before Christmas. Good laughs?

what kind of comedy makes you laugh? i think this appears to be a very funny look at going past 40. of course, we all have our own likes and dislikes.

Hi, I just wanted to say I hit "Like" instead of "Reply" by accident. No joke. I mean to reply by saying I disliked this trailer immensely and I'm a 42 year old dad.

i'm 47 and living with same girl for 17+ years. i can't imagine anyone over 40 not finding something in this they like, but i guess you live in a different reality.....no offense intended.

None taken, I most definitely live in a different reality than a Judd Apatow movie.

The usual faces from an Apatow production... and didn't laugh even once.

Perfect song for this trailer. Looks like it'll be less over the top laughs and more heart felt sentiment, I'm in!

If you don't find this funny, you should be watching the latest 'Twilight' trailer or some other shite like that - probably more your cup of tea

yea - i was thinking that those who don't like it are into more of the "stupidity" humor - like jackass, adam sandler, or sasha baron cohen movies.

I have faith in Apatow, but this wasn't too funny.

All his films seem to get a little bit worse and worse each time, this ones seems like it will follow suit

what are you basing that on? his movies (for the most part) all seem to be pretty good.

I'm basing that on my opinion, i've seen all three of his films, and i would rank them from earliest to latest best to worse, never said they weren't good, i enjoyed all of them

I think Funny People was showing exactly what kind of film that Apatow wants to make. He's straddling the line between comedy and drama. It will probably be funny though. Hopefully they release a red-band trailer.

Personally, I find most Apatow movies are funny and super depressing all at once.

How many of you commenting are 40 or close to it? I've got a feeling your opinions are directly related to your age. NOT trying to be an ass. Just have a feeling. BTW, nice Camper Van Beethoven shirt on Rudd.

I'm nearing there, a few mates have recently turned, but I think that's why I found it so funny, I think his movies often deal with the man as a giant child, unable to grow up, something I can relate to.

Maybe it's because I'm closer to 40 than I am 30 but that was catchy.

Yeah this is a must-see for any married couple. I'm only 31 but I can already relate to some of the stuff in the trailer. My wife is going to laugh her ass off at the last scene when I show her this because she has said the same exact thing to me before in a very similar situation.
