Twice Born

As the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival kicks off tomorrow, expect a lot of buzz from the films playing at the fest as our own Alex Billington heads to Canada today. We've already seen trailers for films playing at the fest like The Sapphires and The Bay, and now a new trailer for Twice Born has arrived. Penelope Cruz plays a single mother brings her teenage son to Sarajevo, where his father (Emile Hirsch) died in the Bosnian conflict years ago. The titles are done in a way that tries to make them connected, but somehow makes them feel disjointed and distracts from some beautiful visuals. See for yourself below!

Here's the first trailer for Sergio Castellitto's Twice Born originally from Yahoo:

Twice Born directed by Sergio Castellitto who also wrote the film with Margaret Mazzantini. In the drama, Gemma (Penelope Cruz) visits Sarajevo with her son, Pietro. Sixteen years ago they escaped the war-torn city while the boy’s father (Emile Hirsch) remained behind and later died. As she tries to repair her relationship with Pietro, a revelation forces Gemma to face loss, the cost of war and the redemptive power of love. The film will play at TIFF 2012 this month but doesn't yet have an official US release date yet. Good?

Looks pretty good but the title design was very distracting!

this trailer left me with 0 intertest in the film.

This is how trailers should be done, not spoil half of the movie. Great music and they kind of kept it shrouded in mystery, definitely piqued my interest.

Emile Hirsch was on the rise a few years back but nothing came of it. He better make something good soon or he'll go the way of Skeet Ulrich.

I don't think that Skeet Ulrich comparison is fair, seeing as Hirsch has actual talent. Anyway, Speed Racer straight up destroyed his career. Dude had to work his way back up from the bottom, even after having put in fine performances in things like Into The Wild and Dogtown.
