Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters Trailer

"We've gotten a taste of blood. Witch blood." It's been long overdue, but Paramount and MGM have finally unveiled the first official trailer for Tommy Wirkola's action-packed fantasy Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as your new Hansel and Gretel. This looks like all sorts of crazy fun with witches shooting Gatling guns, plenty of explosions and a hint at the gory action of a R-rated movie (though there's no official rating yet) and some pretty creepy, ruthless witches, including one played by Famke Janssen. This looks like it's going to be over-the-top horror action fun next year.

Watch the first trailer for Tommy Wirkola's Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, via Apple:

Fifteen years after their traumatic gingerbread-house incident, siblings Hansel and Gretel (Renner and Arterton) have become a formidable team of bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the world.

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is directed by Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola (of Kill Buljo: The Movie, Dead Snow) who also wrote the script with Dante Harper. Famke Janssen, Peter Stormare and Zoe Bell also star in the film being produced by Adam McKay & Will Ferrell through their Gary Zanchez banner. Paramount releases Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters in theaters on January 13th next year. Thoughts?

this looks good (i LOVE the witches - they're badass!) - but, i thought "van helsing" looked good when the trailer hit - and it ended up being a dud. i'm cautiously optimistic on this film. i and on a WTF impression - GA sounds like she's reading from cue cards....either that or her acting sucks..............maybe it's just me, though.

eh, why not, renner is having a good run

That sweet Renner teat.. wait, what? :l

Being in one awesome movie(The Avengers) and then using it as a sprinboard into let-downs like this and The Bourne Legacy is not 'a good run'

At this point I don't even care. The only important question to me is "Is he wearing short sleeves so I'm being provided with a reasonble amount of veiny arm porn?" Teehehehe!

hahaha fair enough.

Meh, I found it terribly over-rated. Each to his own though.

Woah. Miss Arterton's American accent is quite good! Reminds of a THE BROTHERS GRIMM X THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN movie. In a good way? Brujas...

Looks cool and all but I can't help buy giggle at the "pump-action blunderbuss".

Sam & Dean meets Van Helsing... But better 🙂

Van Hesling looked this good in the Trailers, lest we forget the Projector Vomit that was!

Brad White on Sep 4, 2012

18

Van Helsing was at worst, a very fast paced, action packed and somewhat cheesy adventure movie that brought a lot of classic characters together. Jackman, Whenam, Beckinsale, Roxburgh, and Hensley all kicked ass in their roles in that movie. This looks just plain bad.

Chris Groves on Sep 4, 2012

19

hmmmm! If it's r rated i give it a chance...

I think there was news on FS a couple weeks ago that it was in fact gonna be R 😀

Excellent NIN song aside, this looks completely horrible..

I was just about to write that the music clearly shows who this is targeted to: agnst-ridden post-puberty teeners 🙂

vasras on Sep 4, 2012

24

Which is interesting. This film is rated R...and it had a very 'If you are 14 you might think this is pretty cool' vibe to it. I don't see the audience for this one.

Chris Groves on Sep 4, 2012

25

I could see an audience only because it will be released in January.

dale on Sep 4, 2012

26

although I agree with U as to who the target audience is, I completely disagree in how U arrived to this conclusion given that NIN was created back in 88.. and damn dude, how can U insult Mr Reznor like this !! -1 for U

Tester on Sep 4, 2012

27

And what's more is Reznor has been involved lately in some excellent soundtracks to high profile, award winning dramas. Didn't he win an award for The Social Network?

JL on Sep 6, 2012

28

Hopefully it'll be the fun and campy spin on the old classic they're hinting at...neat concept but ouch, 2nd week in January? Jan - March do tend to be the studios' dump months

I hate Hansel! Hansel, Hansel! Everywhere I look! Hansel! I think this looks like it could be some good, trashy fun. It's clearly over the top and not taking itself seriously. I can dig it.

SuicidalOptimist on Sep 4, 2012

Hansel. He's so hot right now. Hansel.

Van Helsing meets Underworld meets Uwe Boll? The only I can going for this would be the R rating. I'll wait for the rental

syntaxterror on Sep 4, 2012

34

While this will surely bomb I am pretty sure I will enjoy it, Hopefully it does not take it self to seriously.

Brian Sleider on Sep 4, 2012

35

And Jeremy Renner was complaining about the way Hawkeye ended up being portrayed?

Chris Groves on Sep 4, 2012

36

Jesus it seemed like they showed about twenty different shots of Renner either cocking a gun or firing a gun.

the_situasian on Sep 4, 2012

37

Oh no... this looks terrible. However, I do like fairy tales.... and Jeremy Renner. Eh, I'll wait until it comes out on Netflix.

fem!anon on Sep 4, 2012

38

Well, I loved Dead Snow. This looks like it could be fun. Or horrible. We'll see...

Famke Janssen. I'm in.

this movie looks ALOT like Van Helsing with a little bit of season of the witch.

david93 on Sep 4, 2012

44

Jeremy Renner looks the same in every movie he's in. He needs to mix up his appearance and differentiate his character's more.

No mention of Fables comic book? I attached the James Jean cover with Hansel dishing out a drowning. I actually think it looks not so good but also completely watchable, I'll definitely see this, maybe not in a cinema though,
