Act of Valor Super Bowl Spot

"Be safe." "You know I will." One of the only other TV spots for a movie that debuted during the Super Bowl game today was for Relativity Media's upcoming Navy SEALs action movie Act of Valor, which we've been teasing for a while, but will finally hit theaters in a few weeks. If you haven't seen the trailers before, this features plenty of the same footage from this, not much new, but I did see another TV commercial earlier with some cool nightvision footage that I had not seen before. I'm sure this will be an entertaining and action-packed helluva good time of a movie, but that's really the only reason I'm curious to watch this. You?

Watch the new Super Bowl TV spot for Mike McCoy & Scott Waugh's Act of Valor, via YouTube:

When the rescue of a kidnapped CIA op leads to the discovery of a terrorist plot, a team of SEALs is dispatched on a worldwide manhunt. As the valiant men of Bandito Platoon race to stop an attack that could kill thousands of US civilians, they must balance commitment to their country, team and families.

Act of Valor is co-directed by Mike McCoy & Scott Waugh, stuntman and Navy soldiers also behind a short doc Navy SWCC. The screenplay for this action feature was written by Kurt Johnstad (Zack Snyder's 300, The Last Photograph). Relativity Media is releasing Act of Valor in theaters everywhere starting February 24th later this month. Visit the film's official website here: actofvalor.com. Anyone actually want to see it?

Looks like more pro-American garbage. Why do you Yanks love war so much? No wonder your country is now a third world nation.

Anyone who enjoyed War Horse will no doubt enjoy this po-faced, over earnest and poorly written piece of propaganda with cheese.

Id actually like to see what some of our finest go through. Sure I believe our government is still imperialistic and full of greed, but will watch this for those who serve for our country.

Please keep in mind that this is a purely fictional action movie, the only thing real here are the SEALS who are playing the parts of SEALS. I wouldn't mind seeing it for the action, but it is most likely NOT going to make me wish I could go out and join the Army. Mostly because the SEALS are Navy (Redskullives) but also because the notion that someone would want to join the military based soley on a fictional film is rediculous.

37% of army recruits are the result of Call of Duty so i wouldn't sell this too short on that.......

Call of Duty glamorizes warfare and gives you more get out of death free cards then the entire cast of Supernatural. I'm not surprised many 17 and 18 year olds signed up for the military after playing that game, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if they are now thinking 'this is nothing like the game!' But part of the goal of this movie is to try to add some realism and authenticity to the story, much in the vein of Black Hawk Down or the first Behind Enemy Lines, and I doubt very seriously that those movies inspired mass enlistment, I mean I hope the human race is smarter than lemmings.

It is better to die as a soldier than just as someone who comes on to firstshowing.net talking crap about war movies.  Who cares if this motivates people to join and defend their country to each their own.  I did my part and am a proud Army Veteran and no I didn't have to see a movie to want to join, but like I said to each their own.

So all you people that loved "X generic war movie" are hating on this because it doesn't have famous people in it? Maybe you should go so "Battleship".
