Watch: Tony Stark Gets Snarky in the New TV Spot for 'The Avengers'

"You threaten my world with war. You might not be glad that you did." It's almost time for the world to be avenged, and that means our TV's are going to be chock full of action-packed spots for The Avengers, and we've got another today via Fandango. With a great opening threat from Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), plus a finely delivered monologue from Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), it sounds like Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is going to get a lot of shit thrown his way as he tries to destroy the planet with his army of metallic space aliens (which we also catch another glimpse of in this). Almost time to kick off the summer!
Here's the cool new TV spot for Joss Whedon's The Avengers, embedded from Fandango:
When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. The star studded cast includes Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Cobie Smulders, as well as Tom Hiddleston and Stellan Skarsgård who are reprising their respective roles from Thor. Marvel's The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon (Serenity), hits theaters everywhere May 4th, 2012. You can watch the first trailer here, the Super Bowl spot here, or the newest theatrical trailer here.

they can't be skrulls... Fox licensed them. They're more like their Ultimates equivalent which is fine because they're actually scarier.

A couple years back at comic con a picture of Thanos "Infinity Gauntlet" was shown in a case. If you freeze the shot of the "aliens" they're wearing helmets that look DAMN NEAR exact to Thanos'..

I don't really see the resemblance... I think that's kind of a stretch actually.

It may be a stretch but it does look similar to the Thanos helmet, we'll just have to wait and see. Here's the firstshowing article: https://www.firstshowing.net/2010/marvels-infinity-gauntlet-revealed-at-comic-con-now-what/

yeah and guess what... it was in thor as a throw away prop in the background of the armory. I don't think it's going to be in the film at all. I could be wrong, but I don't see them introducing Thanos as a character to over shadow Loki who is in all the trailers and commercials, toy ads. Besides we've seen all the toys and marketing for the film and there hasn't been a hint of Thanos anywhere. More than anything they look like Korbanites which is what Beta Ray Bill is, the only other creature in the universe that could use Thor's hammer and could potentially be a character in Thor 2, connecting all the film. That's the answer that makes the most sense to me, looks most likely. The only other hint is that when talking about toys for the Avengers the team from Lego brought up ORD which is an alien created by Joss Whedon during his run on Astonishing X-Men. Ord was an alien from Breakworld. Could be... maybe not... who knows. But I really don't think these are the minions of Thanos. Thanos would pimp slap Loki. It'd be bad story telling.

I look forward more to these trailers and snigbits just to see more Hulk action. For a superhero not getting a sequel, he sure draws more of a crowd then the rest.

They're probably Breakworlders...Whedon introduced them while he was working on the Astonishing X-Men TV series...could mean a huge cameo

He's not, he's a full fledged god. I have a feeling this movie is really going to low ball Thor...

They haven't revealed who his mother is in the films yet so even Thor might be under the impression he's a Demi God and they're making room for him to discover more about himself in his sequel.

May the Forth be with you. It is an interesting coincidence that The Avengers debuts on Star Wars day ... or maybe it was intentional.
