Despite being outshined by The Avengers at the box office and likely to be pushed even further back in our minds by Chris Nolan's looming The Dark Knight Rises, The Hunger Games certainly hasn't been forgotten by Hollywood. In fact, it's sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is churning up one of the biggest casting battles in recent memory, keeping all eyes on the world of Panem and leaving fans wondering who will take on the role of the ax-wielding former Games winner Johanna Mason. THR reports that Jena Malone, who was previously in talks for the part, has now officially been offered the role. More below!
Alice in Wonderland star Mia Wasikowska and model Zoe Aggeliki were reportedly up for the part first, but Malone entered the picture and Wasikowska dropped to the sidelines while Aggeliki was seemingly set for the part. It's been quite a silly flip flop game that would make politicians blush. Despite Sucker Punch's many flaws, I thought Malone did a solid job in it, but I'll be excited to see if she can take on an even stronger character this time out. We'll have to see if she actually signs on the dotted line or if we end up bouncing back and forth between these contenders a few more times before they head back into the arena.

Only if the boy from district 3 is Glenn Jacobs... I know he's 10-15 years too old but he deserves your google search.

Who's casting this, some random Democratic Presidential Nominee? Seriously, I see Kmart is the only one with discounts on flip flops this week... Actually the more I think about Jenna Malone in this role the more I wanna see Jenna Malone... ahem... in this role. @ Ben. Agree with you on Sucker Punch, and Oscar Isaac deserves some credit too for his performance.

... do we really need to address how much money a movie makes on every article? Do we really care that much, or judge the quality or how it will be remembered by that alone? Or am I living in a world where the Twilight crap is among the best and Blade Runner is a complete waste of time?

She's hasnt done anything really good in a while, but it's good to see her getting this role. I thought she was really good in Saved and LIfe as a House.
