"No matter what I do, I can't deny them… what happened." Thanks to tipster & reader Ronny, we've got another worth watching stellar short called In The Pines to feature. This originally premiered at the SXSW Film Festival this spring and earned some raves then, now it's online in full for public viewing (via Vimeo). Jessica Martin stars as a young woman who goes on a journey into the forest to make contact with beings she believes she encountered once before. It was described as a "teenage" Close Encounters of the Third Kind and it definitely has that feel, I just wish there was a bit more to this (you'll see what I mean). Enjoy!
The plot description for In The Pines from Vimeo: A young woman, convinced she has experienced an encounter with the extraterrestrial, becomes fixated on re-establishing contact in this striking study of the paranormal and the human psyche. This was written and directed by up-and-coming filmmakers Zeek Earl & Chris Caldwell, and co-stars Jessica Martin & Julianne Christie, with an original score by Daniel L.K. Caldwell. It won Best Science Fiction Short at the 2012 Eugene Film Festival. The two filmmakers' and producers' next film is the sci-fi short Prospect, which we've also featured.
