Yes, Pixar Somehow Managed to Fit the Pizza Planet Truck into 'Brave'

July 3, 2012

Pizza Planet Truck

If you're a true fan of Pixar Animation, then you know the crew loves to throw in little homages, references and Easter eggs to their films in all of their projects. From Boo having a Jessie doll in Monsters Inc. to The Incredibles villain Bomb Voyage appearing as a mime in Ratatouille, there's plenty of great treats like that. However, one of the more consistent inclusions is the Pizza Planet truck from the original Toy Story which has been in every Pixar film except The Incredibles. But there's now way they managed to fit an automobile into the medieval time period setting of their fairytale Brave is there? Why, yes, there is, folks!

The witch who casts a spell to change Merida's fate is an expert wood carver. But apparently she's also a predictor of the future as she has sculpted the Pizza Planet truck out of a piece of wood, and Disney sent us a still from the film so you can see it right here for yourself (click for a much larger version of the photo):

Brave - Pizza Planet Easter Egg

But that's not all. The witch has another Easter egg in her woodshop as you can see a recognizable monster engrained into another piece of wood just lying around. You can see that very photo right here as well:

Brave - Monsters Inc. Easter Egg

Surely there's plenty more Easter eggs, so see Brave again or let us know any treats you found in the film.

Brave was originally being directed by Pixar's first female director, Brenda Chapman (of Prince of Egypt), but she was then joined by Mark Andrews (of the short One Man Band) who took over to help finish the movie. Disney released Pixar's Brave in theaters everywhere this summer on June 22nd in 3D. Seeing it?

Are you talking about the other engraved piece of wood in the middle?

Sully and the truck! I had no idea! I love easter eggs like this and Pixar is one of the best at them!

Look at the top middle in the second photo. Sully's there twice...just cut off about mid section:P

To me it looks a lot more like a bear than another Sully carving. You can see the design is different. I think its just another bear craving.

Look at the feet, the center grain stripe and the bark on the lower left side. It all matches, I think it's an exact copy of the prop. Digital masters, cutting and pasting one prop everywhere...geeze, talk about being lazy:P

Next to the Pizza Planet truck there is also a bear sculpted like Rodin's "The thinker"...

When the witch is making the "change your fate" potion, she holds up something that's the shape of the "Newt" from the cancelled project "Newt."
