'You Again' Helmer Andy Fickman Gets New Film 'Over My Dead Body'
Remember the Kristen Bell/Odette Annable comedy You Again? Well, that film's director, Andy Fickman, has just signed on to direct a remake of a German comedy called Over My Dead Body. Variety describes the comedy as following a self-centered womanizer who dies, goes to Hell, and makes a deal with the Devil. In order to have a second chance at life, the ladies' man must heal three hearts he's broken in three days. Granted, I didn't actually see it, but doesn't the Matthew McConaughey romantic comedy Ghosts of Girlfriends Past have a plot very similar to this premise? Not quite similar enough, I guess. More below!
There's no word on casting quite yet, but we know that Jeremy Miller and Dan Kohn are going to be responsible for adapting the English version of the screenplay. These guys were consulting producers on three episodes of "Entourage" and have written a total of three episodes of other television shows in their careers, so forgive me if I don't have a ton of faith in this project right now. Despite Fickman's thicker resume, his name doesn't exactly inspire a ton of confidence, either (though maybe he's trying to change his ways since he's supposed to oversee Boy Scouts vs. Zombies). Still, they're going to have to lock down a hell of a cast to get me even remotely interested in this one, but you tell me - am I being too harsh?
