Zachary Levi To Take Over the Fandral Role in Marvel's 'Thor' Sequel
"Complicated fellow, isn't he?" Just 24 hours after it was first revealed that actor Josh Dallas would not be reprising his role as Fandral in Marvel's Thor 2 sequel, being directed by Alan Taylor this summer, a replacement has already been named. THR says that instead of Dallas, they've cast Zachary Levi to play Fandral, one of the Warriors Three, already seen in the first Thor. They remind us that talks are "at an early stage — negotiations have not yet begun, according to sources — but an offer is imminent." Levi's cult hit TV show Chuck just wrapped up earlier this year, but Dallas left because he is now on ABC's Once Upon a Time.
Marvel's Thor 2 is gearing up for a fast start this summer, following Iron Man 3 which is already shooting. "Game of Thrones" director Alan Taylor has already cast Mads Mikkelsen as one of the newcomers, playing the villain. Of course, returning are Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Idris Elba and Anthony Hopkins. Levi was in talks originally back when Thor was casting to play the role of Fandral, but had to leave because Chuck got picked up for another season. Now that Dallas had to leave the role because he got a TV show, it's Levi's gig once again. The perfect tag-in. I actually recall Josh Dallas giving a great performance as Fandral, but I'm very curious to see how Levi does, and how the Warriors Three are used, in this next Marvel sequel.
Awesome! I was hoping that Zac would get a superhero role at some point in his career. Like maybe the Flash, Aquaman, or some other major character... but this will do for now. I hope this happens. He was awesome on Chuck.

I hope they never make a solo Aquaman movie! If they do end up making a Justice League movie, then bring him in with the whole group, but don't ever do a stand alone movie of him

I disagree Brotsis and not only because of the entourage spoof of an Aquaman movie. Rather the fact that no one cares about Aquaman so they need to tell a story with him that is interesting before he is a background character in a movie. I believe they are doing one movie with every character than justice league which is actually an even better strategy than Avengers sequels in my opinion. Zac was great on chuck could see him as the flash also

Well alright I guess, I'm not very fond of re-castings though(specially Rhodey in Iron Man...) but of course not including Mark Ruffalo taking over hulk cause he was outsanding! I have good hopes for Thor 2, I personally would like to see it darker... Don't get me wrong I like the first movie alot, Maybe have the film BEGIN with Loki's trial, which I think would be awesome!

Maybe they will play a bigger role.

This seems like an awful idea.

Yea Tell me about it, I loved Josh Dallas in this role even though it was a small role. I never really liked Zac Levi..
Oblique on Jun 9, 2012
I have a hard time seeing him get "godly ripped" for his role
Brotsis on Jun 9, 2012
Meh. He was pretty good in CHUCK, if underutilized. I hope he'll be something more. The other actor was already good, so whatever.

Who cares? This is not news. So they want to a cast a Levi in the film. What's new? Meh.
