Screen Actors Guild Awards

The nominees for the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards have just been announced today. Yet another awards show in the very top tier (which also includes the Golden Globes and Academy Awards) is the Screen Actors Guilds Awards, where the actors themselves choose the best performances from amongst their peers. These noms are usually similar to the Oscars. This year there is a very big set of contenders for acting awards, and it's interesting (and also exciting) to see who made the cut. Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave earned the most nominations, with 4 in total including Best Ensemble Cast. Full list of noms below.

The SAG Awards will air live from Los Angeles on TNT/TBS on Sunday, January 18th, 2014 at 8PM EST.

And there you have it - the 2014 SAG Awards nominees. A few of the big snubs this year seem to be Robert Redford from All is Lost (not to mention the other strong Best Actor contender Oscar Isaac from Inside Llewyn Davis), plus Amy Adams from American Hustle, Joaquin Phoenix (and Amy Adams again) from Her, and Brie Larson from Short Term 12. Aside from those snubs, this is still a solid set of nominees, and I'm happy for all of them (especially Chiwetel Ejiofor and Lupita Nyong'o!). Here is the full list of the 2012 SAG Awards winners for last year. Coming up next are the Golden Globe nominations. Your thoughts?

One of the most important things to me is that Michael Fassbender receives that well-deserved supporting actor award. He was incredible in 12 Years A Slave. Leto was good but nothing extraordinary, people are just heaping more praise on him than is necessary because he played gay. The most astonishing part of his performance for me was his weight loss.
