A24 Sets Sundance Fave 'The Spectacular Now' for August Release

We're excited to finally tell you the date to mark down in your calendars for one of our favorite films of the year so far. I'm talking about The Spectacular Now, directed by James Ponsoldt, starring Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley. It was praised as of the best films of Sundance 2013, and ended up high on both Ethan and my own Top 5 favorites of the fest. Brand new distributor A24 picked up the film and recently set a release date, scheduling it for release starting on August 2nd late this summer. Which might just be the perfect spot for it to break out from. A24 also set Sofia Coppola's new film The Bling Ring for June 14th.

From the original news: "We fell in love with this film the minute that we watched it and we know the rest of the country will embrace this timeless love story. James has directed a wonderful film that depicts young love with complete authenticity and has two young stars giving incredible performances with Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley." The Spectacular Now was written by Michael H. Weber & Scott Neustadter, of 500 Days of Summer previously. You can read my review from Sundance here.
