After inheriting headmaster duties at Hogwarts in the Harry Potter franchise, Alan Rickman is now running one of New York's most iconic rock concert clubs. CBGB tells the story of Hilly Kristal (Rickman) who founded the grungy Country, Bluegrass and Blue (CBGB) club which turned into a mecca for spawning some of the greatest rock groups of all-time like Talking Heads, Blondie, The Ramones, The Police, Iggy Pop and more. The cast also includes Malin Akerman, Rupert Grint, Ashley Greene, Johnny Galecki, Ryan Hurst, Justin Bartha, Donal Logue and Bradley Whitford, so this could be fun. Watch below!
Here's the first trailer for Randall Miller's CBGB, originally from THR:
CBGB follows the story of Hilly Kristal's New York club from its conceit as a venue for Country, Bluegrass and Blues (CBGB) to becoming the birthplace of underground rock 'n roll and punk. When Kristal (Alan Rickman) had difficulty booking country bands, he opened his doors to other kinds of rock music and became ironically known as the godfather of punk giving a chance to such bands as Blondie, Television, Ramones, Talking Heads, Dead Boys and The Police. Malin Akerman, Rupert Grint, Ashley Greene, Bradley Whitford and more star in the film directed by Randall Miller, who co-wrote the script with Jody Savin (the two also directed and wrote Bottle Shock). The film doesn't yet have a US release date so stay tuned. Well?

I'm a rock fan. I'm a comedy fan. I'm a movie fan. But, I have to say, this trailer did absolutely nothing for me.

Yeah, I get my kicks out of lying about my interests and passions on movie website forums for no reason, that makes perfect sense.

the end of the trailer threw me off. The kid covering The Police, looking nothing like Sting but having his voice straight from the record. It was too clean. I'd rather see actors who look a little like the artist cover the song completely and well.

Why does Alan Rickman look like Jeffery Ross. They should have called this film "The Roastmaster General".
