Alec Baldwin Skipped Marvel Villain Role, Says Yes to Cameron Crowe
by Ethan Anderton
August 1, 2013
For any actor, turning down a film in the ever expanding Marvel cinematic universe has to be tough, but that's exactly what Alec Baldwin did. In an interview on The Howard Stern Show (via Metro), Baldwin said, "I don’t want to undo somebody because they hired someone else to do it. But they asked me to play a villain in one of these Marvel Comics movies." Could Baldwin have been up for a role in something like Guardians of the Galaxy or The Avengers 2? Hopefully we'll find out at some point. Baldwin's schedule may not have worked for Marvel, but he does have room for Cameron Crowe's developing film. More below!
Though we're not sure of the final plot, Crowe's new movie has been said to be a reworked version of Crowe's old project called Deep Tiki from years ago. The original story followed military weapons consultant deployed to a dormant base in Hawaii to supervise the launch of a spy satellite. However, he soon has moments of self-discovery as he reflects on the relationships he left behind. Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams are all on board, and now Deadline reports Baldwin has taken a supporting role as well. Danny McBride was also revealed to be a recent addition, so with the cast firming up, maybe we'll get some solid story details. It's a Cameron Crowe film though, so I'll see it no matter what.

The simplest answer is Robert Redford's role in Cap2.

The Shadow flopped, that's why he won't do it. Also, he has enough cash.
